Samsung is obviously doing this to compete with Touch ID. If Apple didn't put a fingerprint scanner on their iphone 5S, Samsung will not do this too.

Honestly, i find this heavily inconvenient and senseless.
The fingerprint scanner used by Apple and HTC are best.

We do not have sufficient software and internet security. A mobile that has finger print detection and or eye scanning falls in to the same category as apps, that is, it is not secure and open to the vendors to have access to your personal information.
Even today millions of people use chat apps where you willingly provide your email address and the actual email password. In effect you are letting them have direct access to your emails.
With fingerprinting and eye scanning, this information is no longer yours and the vendor can sell to anyone.
It is extremely dangerous development especially when you consider some bank accounts and access to Government data by so called authorised people is protected by eye scanning.
In fact fingerprint and eye scanning apps should be banned from all mobiles as you can be 99% sure some one will be selling that information to others, or some other devious party will have access to that information,
Do not think this is fun and games, and dont be naive and ignorant when it comes to personal security.
You may as well just post you bank account information etc on the web.
This device and any similar should be prohibited. You have to be crazy to think your information is 100% secure.
