Will need to be no more than $700 to not be completely obsolete next to their own entry Air 13.

There's a rumour that this will have Apple's A-series SoC instead of M-series. If they managed to keep the price down to the level of the base Mac Mini, it would sell like hotcakes. The current MBA isn't terribly priced by any means but it's still out of reach for many students and average Joes who are on a budget, in the end.

I think the prices of decent laptops have increased in a few years time so it is good IF Apple will meet that 599-699 dollar price point for decent laptop because that will force other laptops oems to make better devices for that price point. Everybody wins.

Few years back you could buy new decent laptop for that kind of money, now it would be either few hundred dollars more or getting refurbished model or compromising on some features like battery life, build&screen quality, power, connectivity etc.

If it is priced around 600-700$ then it will compete nicely in the lower end laptop space. The A series is more than powerful enough from the last few generations. Plus, MacBook level build quality that no other company will match at that price point. They could put a screen off a 2012 MacBook Pro and it's still a good deal.
Just look at it logically and not through hate filled lens if you happen to use one of the other brands.

Cpt.Power, 05 Nov 2025Like sorry but for 1000 bucks anyone can buy a lot better w... moreI honestly see why you'd think that. I felt the same way. Right now, im working on my wifes mothballed MacBook Pro 2010, I did it to surprise her because she always said it's her favorite. My observation is telling me that Apple is honestly builds this different. I have a brand new Lenovo (in think its a ideapad) and this 15 year old mac has better screen, better sound, and in some ways is easier to work on. I think if Apple would put more average hardware in their units, I'm guessing the prices would be more comparable. Even her 2014 MacBook Air has superior screen and sound to sny of my windows machines.

i don't think this is real. they only sell stuff that has more than 60% profit margin. a real low cost device makes less than 10% on it's profit margin. no way apple can 'afford' to go that route. not sure they want the 'brand' to go down that path. this is not the apple of the 80's - early 2000's where they spent more time in administration that profitable. now they're the 'premium'.

Well if you just watch videos and play games buy an ipad instead.

jinxthesloth, 05 Nov 2025You mean A19 Pro 6-core CPU and GPU with 16GB RAM and 512GB... moreConsider yourself happy if it's not 128 as base storage 😅😁

Imagine this having a 2y old M3 Chip, this will be kinda good I guess for the price. Or is it not? Idk

Well under $1000? LOL. This is Apple we're talking about.

I'm guessing it will be $899 for 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, which means it basically use the same A19 as the iPhone 17. Want more RAM? It will be another $100, and then you would be better getting the Macbook Air anyway, which starts at 16/256 for $999, and you're getting an M4.

lgsf, 05 Nov 2025Have you ever used a Mac, dude? What a joke of a comment. W... moreMac is trash for 3d modeling. Windows laptop easily beat them.

A18 pro itself is faster than m1 in everyway. should be better than qualcomm laptops around that price

m2 air performance + decent screens/speakers/haptic touchpad + 12gb ram + all metal build + good battery life for 599-699
and this would be a REALLY good laptop. no windows oem is doing all this at that price.

Mills, 05 Nov 2025Make it 599, name it MacBook Mini, A19 Pro Chipset with 12/... moreWith those it would be real value for money BUT… one thing missing. European price €699 not €749 like on the $599 iPhone 16e. It’s a small difference but it matters when comparison’s are made between under 700€ laptops. Thank you.

Especially when M$ has EOL Win10* and Win 11 is a buggy mess while also shoving in ads in the OS and forcing their users to get a M$ account in the OS.

                                  * = (EU users and users who "synced" their M$ account to the cloud are exempted)

All that is left now is Steam OS to fully release and capture the gaming community from M$.

Once apple sells a cost effective Mac and Steam OS is available for the masses, lets see if M$ can continue with their AI, ads, and Forced Windows Account shenanigans.
Or, double down on their shenanigans, which we all know that most users are fed up with.

Apple is nuts and desperate to sell such overpriced junk.

They will have to price this around $600 at the max if they wish to compete with entry level laptops and chromebooks, and that price is considering the apple premium
