Nokia Lumia sales hit a record last quarter

21 October, 2013
Although not a particularly strong number on its own, it signals a steady increase in demand for WP devices.

AnonD-79959, 21 Oct 2013when is nokia 1020 going to show up in the Mid east:))))

Hussein, did you know the 1020 won't be getting the GDR3 update??? Yup, Microsoft says it's not 1080P screen resolution so you will be stock with a half baked update worn just 2 grids for life.

If you want a windows phone you should wait for the 1520 - if it doesn't get outdated by the time it gets to your region

It's a Samsung, what do you expect! !!!

Nokia on the other hand had no choice, after failed 800 and 900 ( outdated weeks after release due to Microsoft) couldn't survive the loss and move on, they had to bet Microsoft to take them over! !!

        Real sad! !

i dunno y ppl keep attacking each others... simply Nokia is doing good.. their phones are very well built.. their OS is great... and the only thing they r missing is apps but it's growing... that doesn't mean that Android or Apple phones are bad or better.. simply alot of choices which is good for us customers.. if u want to argue then say something useful and informative.

Add to that, it's a record sales for them since they've sold 1 million less last quarter. And tiles are not for the kids. Every laptop and desktop computer have/will have tiled interface since Windows 8 is based on that UI. It's the future in smartphone and desktop UI design. But you can always opt to be stuck with your outdated 90's icon-and-widget-based UI if you don't like modernity.

It can be seen by HTC's current position. What it was and what it is right now. You people only think about the short-run. Considering long-run, Nokia's decision was best for business. Market is right now highly saturated with Android and even the best Android maker Samsung is feeling the heat because of it. Nokia's decision to go with Microsoft is perfect to provide a third eco-system. It's just behind Android and iOS but it will catch-up next year or in 2015 hopefully.

Nokia's focusing on services is the best thing because it is what the future is depending on. Services division has a bright future in both short-run and long-run and it's highly profitable unlike smartphones.
