I'm talkin about how the GSMArena should have been testing the video playback, they're supposed to test native video playback instead of video streaming which is categorically "web browsing" test.

Carriers tracking you has nothing to do with eSIM technology, and they're already selling your numbers to advertisers even before eSIM ever existed.

The fact that you got confused that what the carrier is doing is somehow related to the technology is what baffles me.

YUKI93, 11 Nov 2025I still think that eSIM only works best for a short weekend... moreeSIM, when properly implemented, is safer and more convenient than traditional physical SIM. The tech is not at fault, it’s the lazy and greedy carriers who are intentionally making it inconvenient.

Ironically, instead of blaming and demanding carriers to change for the better, consumers are blaming the technology instead.

I still think that eSIM only works best for a short weekend, possibly weekly, international travel. For near-monthly international travel, physical SIM is still the better solution.

That's a first time I think Apple did something good by removing the Sim card and increasing battery.

Abo King, 11 Nov 2025According to Apple it's additional of 2 hours on video... moreApple claims "Video playback (streamed) Up to 30 hours" for the eSIM version 17 Pro on its US website and "Video playback (streamed) Up to 28 hours" for the physical SIM version 17 Pro on its UK website.

According to Apple it's additional of 2 hours on video playback.

Yet you test it on video streaming which categorically is a web browsing.

I'd suggest you to do a re-test on video playback, without streaming over the internet, of course. Yes, native video-playback.

I'd like to act like this is a positive, but it feels like the non eSIM-only version got deliberately downgraded. iPhones already have a rather small battery and I doubt the SIM-card assembly is the thing holding it back
