lashton, 24 Oct 2013The samsung round is glass so its brittle its also f**ken ugly!A couple of weeks ago I thought that perhaps this display uses a glass substrate and not a plastic one, which will explain everything. I checked with my sources and they said that it is using plastic and this is a YOUM display.

No glass but unfortunately all Galaxy's do look ugly

There are lots of pointless comments of gibberish in this thread and other flex tech threads. The newly incoming trolls just don't seem to get which component is flexible or have the brain power to comprehend the possibilities and benefits for this technology. Only the plastic screen is flexible. If you were to dismantle and pull the screen out, you would be able to bend it like a sheet of paper.

To respect this technology you can see the Galaxy Round side by side with the Note 3 in a YouTube video(1080p) where they are both sitting next to an extremely sunny window. Filmed at an extreme angle of about 160 degrees or so from the phones, it shows that the Note 3's screen looks to be fully engulfed with light reflection and is totally blurred out making it impossible to make anything out. Meanwhile the Galaxy Round's screen looks almost crystal clear and legible. This is the main enhancement with these first line of flex phones from Samsung and LG. On both phones, the curves are really too small to get your panties in bunch over.

Wait until they start manufacturing smaller flexible OLED strips and slapping them all around, creating multiple displays around one phone.

              This is just the beginning.

Kung, 23 Oct 2013If the phone is "flat" on the table, it is rockin... moreWhen do you ever actually put the phone down..flat on the table, and use it that way. It's one of the most uncomfortable viewing angles for you. And it's not going backwards, the idea behind the screen is that its more resistant to shattering, and the curve makes reaching the top/bottom of the screen easier (see galaxy nexus with the curved glass).

If the phone is "flat" on the table, it is rocking like hell when you are using the touchscreen...!! So funny to see innovation going backwards

The bent shape is crap, it makes the phone take so much more space in your pocket, but another company going Oled is so lovely. It's about time we see OLEDs from LG.
Hopefully it'll help them put in bigger batteries and make the bezels even smaller as OLEDs take less space. I wonder what the issues with their OLEDs were that they'd rather stick to LCDs for so long, despite having a huge competitive advantage being made in their factories.

OLED alone made the Galaxy series such a huge success. It's still a huge competitive advantage.

I'd like to see an endurance test; place the phone on the ground, screen down, and walk on it. I want to know if it's able to stand it.
