I miss the days when kids actually went outside and socialised instead of being glued to their phone, hell even the days of people getting together for LAN parties and couch co-op/multiplayer were better.

Kids don't want these things, gosh even a small thing like that will get lost in 5 minutes, not quite sure what HMD are trying to achieve with this. Why don't they focus on updates and bug fixes on current devices, there repairability claim is a big joke as well couldn't even get a sim card tray from Ifixit for a pulse model they said they don't do them lol

Anonymous, 02 Dec 2025Phones are first and foremost a tool for responsible adults... moreFeature phones still have browsers and social media apps and have had so for decades. . .

Better to get them a proper smartphones that actually gets security updates and use FamilyLink (or equivalent) to restrict access to such social media apps, browsers etc. Limit screen time and so on.

Much better than feature phones or lending them yours without enabling a kids account and/or use applock with the same restrictions as mentioned above.

Depending on phone plan, you can also limi the numbers they can call and receive calls from. Same goes for text.

Phones are first and foremost a tool for responsible adults, give a child a phone and they'll likely get addicted to it and potentially run into predators. If you must give your child a phone give them a feature phone.
