They all just buy components from everybody else. Unfortunately, it's nearly a monopoly in terms of manufacturing smartphone processors as Samsung manufacturers a very small percentage with TSMC making the rest of high end processors. It would be great if others like intel could enter the space to at least try to create more competition

Zendroid, 06 Dec 2025From Samsung to Intel. Why can't the fruit just make t... moreI mean, Apple went from "very decent" to "industry shattering" when they designed their very own processors and have been basically dominating the entire industry since. Qualcomm makes good chips too, don't get me wrong, but their main problem is lack of hardware-software integration Apple can have with their own hardware and own software. Qualcomm always has to depend on Google making things better with Android and hopefully individual vendors which can take forever to happen. Apple can just do it from this generation to next and fully utilize entire hardware stack in software. Or other way around.
I'm not sure how Intel plays a role here. Their fab nodes have not been the most state of the art though I admit their mobile parts have been much more competent than high power desktop and server parts so maybe smartphones have a chance.

From Samsung to Intel. Why can't the fruit just make their own, since they keep claiming to be better than everyone else. But the truth is that apple can't make anything else than the OS, by themselves.

I don't know what's the fuss, apple's definitely not gonna fab their most advanced chips on 18a but rather a lower end one, and you're gonna see how Intel 18a fares in a few months with the release of Intel panther lake anyway, so hold your horses..

Didn't Intel produce its chips in TSMC because of problems with manufacturing themselves?
Hope Samsung and Intel get on par with TSMC nonetheless.

"Intel will just be making chips for Apple - it won't be involved in the design phase at all. Basically, Apple wants to not depend entirely on TSMC for chip fabrication, and Intel is the way to do that."

That'll be the worst deal ever, and Apple will back using their in-house chip again after that.
