Anonym, 29 Oct 2013Amazing idea, but I just wonder what happens when the phone... morewhen phone meets concrete?? THAT'S what cases are for.... :)
unless you are awfully petty, and are so rich you normally get 3 or 4 of them...

It was bound to happen, as the concept of modularity is a corporate decision which actually aims to consumer interests. As such, current blossoming giants wouldn't be interested to let go of the current (profitable) trend to outdate 500€ in less than 1 year. This was obviously a measure which would be taken by someone in a need to sweep a nice share of consumer percentage based on a new trend ; and one that actually is nice, as it takes in consideration reducing to some point electronic waste, and defending the consumer by making it possible to conceive a more personal device that satisfies an individual's needs better while simultaneously not being a huge budget setback.
Nice to see motorolla on this type of iniciative.

i was hoping for something like this and finally it is in the works. People always said that the mobile os is not like the desktop ones where you can install windows on any machine and just install drivers. If android lets you install it on any machine with drivers of your own then it would be great. Install whatever you want and not be longing for a perfect phone.

Bluemango26, 29 Oct 2013this idea is not really from moto. Its from phoneblocks
"The Motorola Ara project has been in development for a year now, so it's not something Motorola put together when they saw the Phonebloks video."
Nice try.

Nice start, but I didn't expect Motorola to initiate these project. Their production is so much limited. I'd love if Asus, Samsung, LG, Acer, or Intel would start these. They are much capable in doing so and more aggressive. Yeah yeah, moto is owned by Google, but looking at moto x, it seems Google is not willing to gamble that much outside US with their smartphone.

This is not a new concept or a new idea... I like this one better, at least this concept looks more realistic to me:

what if it fell down ? In India people start making cheap phones buying the parts of cheaper companies. Again Cheap is always cheap. Always standard phones are good.
