Aeron, 01 Nov 2013Android powers almost every brand existing in the world. Wh... moreRight, but I guess it depends on what you expect from the data... If it's who is the biggest smartphone manufacturer, then yes, because of fragmentation of Android, Apple is (probably) still at the top, but if you are a developer wondering whether you will reach more people developing an iOS or Android App, then that's quite useful.

Anonymous, 01 Nov 2013How sad. The market has been flooded with hundreds of cheap... morewhat's behind the plastic is what matters... I have a galaxy note 3 and my girlfriend has the iphone 5 (which was perfect until she updated to ios 7, it freezes a lot now, maybe ios 7 is intended for the 5s)... Anw my plastic phone still looks new while her premium aluminium phone looks like it is 10 years old with all the scratches. What Im saying is i know that apple makes top quality stuff and samsung is basically a home appliances brand not a smartphone maker... but with their galaxy lineup they've really done good... even if it's plastic there's no way the iphone is still in the same league of innivation... samsung outran them by far...

Mr Cook, a word of advice. Wake up and give the punter what they want - not what Apple thinks they should get.

You can't dodge the facts...the iPhone is quickly becoming irrelevant. The iPhone is alarmingly plunging to the relevance levels of the Mac computer.
I love the iPhone but my brain and my wallet lead me to the many choices of superior hardware and OS specified top end Androids.
Simple as that and obviously the smartphone world agrees!

Android powers almost every brand existing in the world. What can you expect? Even a 20$ super cheap phone is running android.

IOS is exclusive to Apple. It does not make sense. it should be brand to brand or atleast model to model. Example s4 vs iphone 5s!

Even though I am an Android fan, but domination is not a good thing for us, the consumers, hope other OS can be more success in future such as WP Jolla, Ubuntu and Firefox, except Apple IOS which is only a money sucker's app drawer OS

Soon... Android would decimate (90%) that smartphone pie.

How sad. The market has been flooded with hundreds of cheap Android variants that won't see an update, while the likes of Nokia, Apple and Sony that produce top quality devices struggle to compete with the plastic factory that is Samsung.
