One other thing that Samsung, Apple, HTC and Sony have to realize is that the Chinese manufacturers are coming up with top-shelf spec phones at nearly 1/2 the price of what they offer (1/3 the price for Apple).

    http://www.gsmarena.com/zte_records_25_million_preorders_for_nubia_z5s_and_z5s_mini_-news-7335.php

This will make it increasingly difficult for these other manufacturers to gain market share unless you believe the vast majority of consumers don't look for the best value for their money.

To be sure Apple will sell a good number of phones because of the huge subscriber base of China Mobile.

I expect to read the stories of many stores being out of stock because the stocks levels were intentionally set low (part of Apple's marketing strategy to hype the popularity and keep iphone in the news), but those stock will be quickly be refilled.

I think that after 6 weeks the sales numbers will fall off quickly.

red, 09 Dec 2013Trade your old iphone is the strategy of apple marketing. A... moreThat is correct. Apple realizes they are near the end of the line with this current design and they were largely unsuccessful in getting the masses to move from other OS' to the iphone 5, so they are aggressively pushing a subsidized upgrade program to current iphoney owners.

If I were a current iphone owner I wouldn't take the offer and wait for the iphone 6. It's going to have a much bigger screen, better camera, more stable ios and will almost certainly have a new design. Even without the new design, I would still hold on to my current iphone and wait for the iphone 6 which all reports indicate a bigger screen and better camera.

AnonD-126854, 09 Dec 2013Sadly, the ppl in China don't like puny screen phones. Onl... moreAlthough I agree that most people in China don't like the small screens there are also people who will buy the iphone because of the perception of status associated with having one. HOWEVER, most (almost everyone?) know the iphones are made in China and the quality issues.

The perception of Apple being a premium product is quickly dying and only the fanboys/fangirls insist this is still the case.

        Take the latest iphone offering.

There have been more than the usual number of bugs with ios7 and also problems with defective batteries in some phones (Apple won't provide ANY estimate of how many phones have been affected).

Not to mention that Apple's PR machine has been working in overdrive trying to keep the stories buried of people getting shocked or electrocuted (I've read the news stories of 2 cases - 1 in China and 1 in Thailand) while charging and using their iphone.

        Not sent from an iphone.

Only few can buy it , to show up(but for daily use will carry big display phones).
The ppl in US will grow up too.

Trade your old iphone is the strategy of apple marketing. And i think this strategy is worldwide. Before only in usa but now even in the philippines. You can change your old iphone into new one with almost half of the price.
