frh, 12 Dec 2013The only phone design with a sturdy slider that I have seen... moreHow can you say that was the only sturdy one? And of course and hinges etc for flips/slides are going to be the weaker point.

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2013How about a 4.5 inch screen with a keyboard slider. I don'... moreThe only phone design with a sturdy slider that I have seen is Nokia's N900. Usually the sliders are the weakest part and break off easily.
Its a big risk including sliders in the ever-increasingly thin phones

AnonD-175233, 12 Dec 2013This would actually raise the quality of the Note series be... moreThat is the same completely lame, nonfactual, and regurgitated fanboy crap everyone spreads.
-Amoled can never produce accurate colors??? Says who? Screens must be well developed and calibrated to such things...And the funny thing is that the S4 and Note3 have nearly perfect color calibration in Movie mode. While still retaining blacks/contrast...You know what that means? The picture is actually more accurate than the display with 5% more accurate colors.
It also takes better white balance than most LCD's in this mode.
Even funnier is that LG's "TRUE HD" and "AMAZING COLOR PRODUCTION" is over saturated. So is HTC's. And obviously Sony's saturated Triluminous. Iphone's is a little closer....But so they are just a hair off or a good bit off...plus lacking deep blacks and comparable contrast...
And how many times have you seen TFT that was under saturated? Or even if you go back a couple years before Amoled had more built in tuning options the LCD's then where more faded less contrast and dimmer. So they were faded...Where is that better?
-They are getting the screens to last much longer and burn in is not very common...Do you think the LCD's we have today just emerged over night??????? The difference is in it's early years Amoled is dwarfing LCD.
-Low light???? Again especially in the case of the S4 and Note3 the Amoleds when at their true full brightness reach very high brightness. The Note3 in fact reaches 660nits of brightness. Way brighter than almost any other smartphone available. Especially in the larger range..
And even dimmer at same brightness percentages Amoleds are perceived as brighter and easier to see in the sun because of the difference in technology.
You should really use your brain before so foolishly regurgitating fanboy lies.

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2013How about a 4.5 inch screen with a keyboard slider. I don'... moreThere are a couple. LG is one of them. Of course the downfall being that they are not full powered.
Would be nice to have full keyboard full powered phones.

How about a 4.5 inch screen with a keyboard slider. I don't think there are any Android keyboard phones at the moment let alone keyboard and stylus.

I wish they would offer the option of a smaller screen for those of us who like the stylus but prefer a smaller screen.

Price and specs will make or brake as usual.
Hope it's not an attempt to make this "light" version the standard and sell the "amoled" version as premium at a higher price point..

I would agree with this article. We should be wary of this rumour. It is highly unlikely that Samsung would wish to diminish the premium reputation associated with the Note series. If anything, they are wanting to raise standards further with the introduction of metal casings for their high end devices, as they did several years with their flagship Wave Bada devices. Companies should be wary of lowering their brand perception. Sony Ericsson briefly did this between 2006-2009 by widening their range to include low cost Walkman branded devices which didn't help. They realised this and of course now since the demerger Sony are back on track.

This would actually raise the quality of the Note series because AMOLED can never have truly accurate color accuracy, plus it still suffers from aging issues and screen burn in, not to mention low light output.
