AnonD-41837, 22 Dec 2013I see, so a company shouldn't protect its interests? grow upYou need to grow up, if they needed to "Really" protect anything, they would sue EVERY other manufacturer. Lets see them going after the rest, but open your blind eyes and see they won't do it.

Fact is, Nokia (aka Microsoft) doesn't believe in fair competition. Same as Apple's most idiotic "invention" of all time: Rectangle with Round Corners!

Why is this not on the frand patent list. This is a part of all mobile phones now and as such is an essential to the running of the phone.

I think this is Microsoft - Nokia deal to perhaps blackmail HTC, if HTC decides to put windows phone OS on more HTC flagships then they will let them be...seriously USB patent can't be that expensive...

its the same thing with Samsung now, offering 1 billion dollars to produce more windows phone flagships....i guess Microsoft got serious and is now on the move. They are starting to invest billions of dollars that they saved up from the last +/-30 years.

I really think that windows phone OS is a future, especially if Microsoft makes a really good symbiosis between windows 8 (desktop and rt), Xbox consoles and windows phones....that would be a killer combination :)

Anon2, 22 Dec 2013so you would like someone stealing your inventions without ... moreSome things are not possible to do in a different way and those patents do more harm than good to the humanity...! It is all about being first to patent while the "invention" itself could have been done by someone else at almost the same time! When Nokia and Apple can not make competitive phones themself they try to ban the competitors from selling their phones, this is "evil"!

HTC supported Windows Mobile/Phone OS way back Nokia and Microsoft is letting this happen to the troubled manufacturer. I can understand, when your phones aren't selling as good, and you've a lot of patents, it's better to ban the competitor's products.

Time to purchase Nokia stock? If they keep winning like this vs. android, its only a matter of time before they go after Samsung, and that has to be the granddaddy of all prizes with 70mil smartphones sold per quarter...say $10 per unit royalty, that's 700mil in IP revenue per quarter if Nokia gets them to license its IP as HTC is surely about to do??

what are u people blind?! Microsoft wanted htc to have dual boot phones, but htc refused. Since htc is weak now, and nokia has a lot of patents (can sue anyone except motorola :D) this is microsofts way to defeat htc more and than injects money and we will have same thing as we did with nokia few years ago
