TheNeighbor, 23 Dec 2013Most people are still resisting that smartphones can do pow... moreTrue. Though some more focus does need to go to full featured mini's. There is no reason to not still have full specced smaller handsets. Everything is a preference.

Phablets may not popular in usa doesn’t means which sell very low beacuse the world is bigger than that , beside those who think 5inch is too big will say 5inch is best size for phone when apple make it lol

[deleted post]Most people are still resisting that smartphones can do powerful processes than mere communications and internet. Some of these are seeing the benefits of a bigger screen and a digitizer.
It's only a matter of time when more iPhone users start getting tired with 4" screens.

"I predict phablets outselling smartphones"
and then
"Phablet is any flagship phone, basically"
So... flagship phones will sell better than tablets? Any other shocking news, like "the sky is blue" from Bob O'Donnell?

It won't take long till someone will ask you why are you carrying your surf board along. And then you'll have to tell them it's not a surf board, it's a phablet... these idiotic big "phablets" are killing actually usable smartphones that you can hold with one friggin hand and carry in a pocket that's not the size of Grand Canyon...

Not sure what calculation they have done before giving this statement. Not sure what gsmarena was thinking while publishing this article. I know more than 1000 people who are using smartphones, none of them is using a phablet. There isn't anything that cud replace iPad mini. Keeping a six inch phone or 7 inch tab looks so awkward. May be companies like Samsung have a huge stock of phablets and this cud be their another market strategy to sell the cheap plastic products.. U never know. So guys think before buying so called phablet.

In the US, iPhone beats all the phones why? Because most people care about one handed usage. 5" display is comfortable to me but over than that, it simply isn't my cup of tea. What I'd really like to see is, real mini phones with powerful hardware like the mini version of Xperia Z1.

Very few ppl I know are using phablets.
Maybe I'm not that big sample, but I don't see ppl using phablets in general.
These devices are way too overpriced, where a very good tablet is less than 200 bucks (nexus 7 13),A phablet with similar specs will cost you at least double.
Also the tablets usually got better batteries, which last longer due to the fact must don't have mobile network modules.

"The US is apparently trailing and considers devices with above-5" of screen estate too big"........ Its not a surprise, the iPhone is the best selling smartphone in the US

A phone is a phone is a phone. Phablets have there place. Liking the advancements being made in technology. However, I still see the Tablet as the better overall way to do general computer work and related matters. For me I prefer a smart fast can-do phone that fits into a pocket well and as for the rest of the tasks other than entertainment - tablet etc please.
