Dpx, 01 Jan 2014Actually, maybe they will succeed. Why did Nokia had succe... more"Why did Nokia had success with Lumia while LG, Samsung and HTC did not? Well, all of those WP phones were never actually "premium"."

Your focus on build quality while accurate, does not represent the total picture. MS let Nokia into the WP door FIRST that's a huge factor right there, Elop accelerated or not... Now picture yourself in either LG, Samsung or HTC's shoes; would you have taken the initiative seriously when it's clear that you're at a half step disadvantage? Of course you're not gonna risk a top horse in a race that you've already lost right before the gunshot? That's how it was.

AnonD-78985, 01 Jan 2014This news is BS!! Will not happen because of PlayStation!!!Sony is a company with several segments! And a follow-up is independent of the other! The fact that sony and microsoft are competing in video games, do not say, they can not be partners in other departments! So was the sony pictures, would not publish his movies on xbox video!

"Microsoft on the other hand, after acquiring Nokia devices and services, is still looking for new hardware partners to help it expand the Windows Phone ecosystem."

Only fools will make WP-devices after MS buys Nokia!
Sony's managment clearly need to be expelled into psychiatric institution. Have they forgottem their mis-adventure with the Xperia 1?!?!?!?

Instead of these kind of bullshit partnerships they ought to concentrate more into making better devices. Perhaps with GOOD screens and REAL gorilla Glass instead of that crap they currently use with those nasty plastic scratch-protectors fuzed into the display. They could also listen a bit more to customers demands with regards to external storage etc...

But creating WP-devices because nobody likes your Android devices. Listen and find out WHY ppl don't like you Android-phones, and act upon that. Instead of running away to mommy Microsoft like a little girl!!!

I work in a telco and I can say in my Country Australia, iPhones and Android phones are top selling. We rarely sell any Nokia WP. We rarely sell Sony Z1/Ultras and for Sony to bring a windows phone to the Australian market, good luck selling to make profit.

MS want too much $ for licenses, they have Nokia which is monopolist in WP, system is too restricted, hard to show oneself. Symbian and Windows Mobile, atm Adnroid is better (even with his disadvantage)in this for producers. MS should keep hardware requirements and OS speed, but give more space for producers.
Outside Europe and South America, in USA, Japan and China WP doesn't exist. On Android market is strong competition, Chinese companies catching up rest...
Less restrictions, more space, faster changes (not like multi-core cpu, full hd etc. after 3 years) or WP will have problem to get more market share.

Sony feels that WP is the future and don't want to miss the start.

AnonD-197784, 01 Jan 2014R.I.P Nokia :-)lol. did Sony really need to do this? wp still lacking behind iOS and Android. and Nokia already dominates the wp world! although that even microsoft itself advertising Nokia name? so why they really need to do this at all? And I think thats the reason too by Nokia not to enter Android bandwagon, because maybe Samsung already dominates Android world. so your comment is null and void.

What if they come out with an Xbox Smartphone- possibly Vaio Play ( just like Xperia Play ) . THAT would make me switch to Windows Phone.
