AnonD-124721, 07 Jan 2014Late? Can you name any compact or mini phones with the late... moreIt's still gonna be a great device, but it indeed is a bit late. Still not even out. By time it arrives it will be almost a year behind the rest of the bunch with the S800. Where as most other minis are released around the same time.
Even when it finally comes out it will no doubt be a top performing mini, but why so long to release? It's taken many months just to announce it. And it's coming February or March and not even 4.4 on board?

It will sell. There are many people who don't want Apple device but something smaller than 4.7". This ticks boxes and a 720p means less taxing on battery. It will be interesting to see if it does well as a lot of people in this market are on 24 month contracts.

And even the faux leather in Note 3 as well, which is def not polycarbonate. Samsung's excuse just to make the phones easier to mass produce or manufacture. But with a "premium feel ". Wow. Can't wait for Gucci to release faux leather shoes since, according to Samsung, it's still premium.

I don't think so. Sony listened to a majority of people. Some people don't want big phones. Most people want glass or metal incorporated in the design. Samsung just listens to their own hard headed self. Bigger is better and faux leather is OK for premium feel. Give me a break!

Agree, finally smaller phone with premium specs!!! Newer devices of course will come but how good is good. Sometimes it’s nice to settle on something and just enjoy it without forever looking further on the horizon particularly when what’s in hand is really good. This has by far a lot better capacity than a lot of people generally could wish for. It’s not a computer but a very powerful and capable personal phone device. Only comment if any is that some of the empty space could have meant a slightly bigger screen but that’s cool. I am a HTC user but I embrace what Sony here have achieved. – Well done.

Unfortunately this comes a little bit late.
The "new spec" flagships are just around the corner, so this "compact" flagship will be (very soon) just like all others of the kind: a phone which aims for flagship status but has the last year specs.

Still kudos for Sony, they may well be able to "shake up the market" with this and it holds the hope that (in the future) they may launch their flagships with a compact model along side (simultaneously or at least closely timed).

I for sure know that I will be looking closely into this model.

[deleted post]They were just trolling...But Poly carbonate is premium with many advantages. And UI look is preference. Touchwiz offers more usage.
I like the screen better one the S4 mini, but the Z1 compact has many obvious advantages.
