I have pre-ordered this from sonymobile.com. The price is £449, but you also get a free sony smartwatch 2 if you pre-order. So after selling the smartwatch the price will work out below £400. Good deal.

This looks pretty owesome , great phone with fantastic specs, this looks best competitor infact looks on par with apple in many ways. All oyher flagships vs z1compact.
1. Speedy processor than i phone 5s some benchmark leaked showed few days back. Though specs are not comparable as they got different archetecture.same to all big androids available but better in speed due to screen resolution.
2.camera is best or comaparable in quality as z1 of all available phones in the market apart from nokia stuff.
3.screen 4.3 " is most managable and useful size for internet use, also good to pocketable , most people would love the this size. Also screen 4.3 " 720 p is greater any other available knly htc mini has got i believe.
4.design is very good looks premium, i phone 4s has best design is following same stuff, so there should not be arguement.
5. Water resistant and dust resistand feature stand out from the crowd, its best feature specially for the accidental exposure to water or dust.
6. Cost i phone 4s cost and this phone cost at the time of launch of respective phones if compared then this is best of all also this give competition to all current flagship then why shouldnt they price comparatively.bigger screen are better for who want bigger and small for who wants small same as apple has small screen still selling high so this should do as well.
5. Software though sony skin is not best its not bad either, but ios 7 and android 4.3 is not much different, android has edge over the customisation and multitasking whereas ios has edge over the optimisation and malware control.
This is my own opinion.

Phones4u said you can go into a store and buy one sim free realistically from 31st of Jan. If you try one of the bigger stores you could get one without pre-order but most likely they will save their stock for contracts but could be worth a punt.

Yeah, Amazon do have great customer service, so I really want to order from there if the price is right.
Phones4U do have them but they are on contract, I need it sim free and I can't see any option on there for sim free just yet.

I want to pre-order this from Amazon Uk but the price is £595, if something goes wrong they sort it no hassle. I know they have the price guarantee but i'm not risking it at this price. I will probably order from Clove at £430.

i think the price is fine, its not a value Nexus its not an over prices iPhone, you dont get quality build and specs for cheap

Nice analagy; but how many Fiesta's would Ford sell compared to how many Enzo's Ferrari would sell?
i.e. Let's say that a Fiesta costs £8000. Then say that Ford sell 3000 of them (£24,000,000) for every Enzo sold at around £650,000. Who makes the most profit?
Plus, with a speed limit of 70mph in the UK the Fiesta makes more sense. Okay, the Enzo looks prettier, but the Fiesta still gets you from A to B in the same time, and it makes more money for it's company.
The point I am making is that Sony products have always been overpriced, and their market share is dropping annually. With the present economic climate people will look for a cheaper alternative that does the same job.
