AnonD-167416, 17 Jan 2014Why are they branding it as the world's first curved smartp... moreThis is true; more dramatically so is the Galaxy curve which came out before the flex. Hoever, it IS the first 'flexible' phone, as both curve and Galaxy nexus are quite rigid in their shapes.

Why are they branding it as the world's first curved smartphone?

Albeit not so subtly, the Galaxy Nexus was by no means a flat phone. I'm not sure LG remembered the whole Galaxy Nexus deal being the first curved smartphone...

Anonymous, 16 Jan 2014no i might be wrong. but dont you think they solved the bat... moreyou know, manufacturers know that no type of lithium rechargeable batteries are safe, its not without reason we hear about phones catching fire, most of the disaster with Sony batteries some years back but also today in new products it has happened, to both samsungs and iphones. They know it isnt safe but gambles on a low percentage of failures. No reason to think LG is any different now is there?

Anonymous, 16 Jan 2014no i might be wrong. but dont you think they solved the bat... moreyes i do, it is the worlds first flexible li-po battery but i doubt it can withstand repeated bending over prolonged time, sooner or later something have to give in.

The thickness and strength of the polymer layer is the key to safety on these batteries, and we know it cannot be very thick since this battery has a fairly high capacity, a thicker and stronger polymer layer would seriously affect the capacity. So, i believe it would break sooner or later, and then i believe sooner rather than later. What is not so likely is that it would catch fire, short circuited lithium batteries sometimes just blow the safety valve without exploding or catching fire, then my lawsuit case would not be that good. I guess i would not buy one anyway but its a possibility =)

i think you are mistaking this for the flexible samsung, which is not bendable.

GSMArena review: "True to its name, the LG G Flex can indeed be flexed but it takes effort. You can put it face down on a flat table and push down until it's straight and you won't damage the phone. There's no practical use for this other than to impress your friends."
