Am I the only one that thinks that this UI is quite a look-alike from the others, at least from Xperia Z1, I almost see no differences
OFF THE RECORD:I have a Xperia Z1

dlads, 20 Jan 2014Will never buy another Sony phone ever again, releasing ano... moreQuit taking the piss: the Xperia Z1 came out 4 months ago. This won't be announced for another month, at the earliest, which put it at 5 months past the Z1. Knowing Sony, there will probably be at least a couple of weeks delay before you can buy it, which puts it at basically 6 months after Z1. Is it too early? I don't know, probably a little bit, but it's not that bad for a refresh (this is not the redesigned Z2, more of a Z1+).
Did you buy the Z1? If not, what are you whining about?

Big Correction GsmArena...The display spec in the picture below of 4.86-inches refers to the size excluding the virtual buttons. If you gross that up, it appears that this display is indeed 5.2-inches!!!!

Anonymous, 20 Jan 2014Smaller bezel and slightly smaller screen should be great. ... moreI agree... I will try to get the Z1 Compact to replace my Acro S... but 4.3" with on-screen buttons will not be enough for me... so I am waiting for a 4.5-4.7" like this...
Though I think the 4.86" in the screenshot is what the app sees not taking the buttons into account... so the screen might actually be 5.2"

Will never buy another Sony phone ever again, releasing another Sony right after the Z1? WTF?
I suppose that the Z1 will now begin to lose support too, christ what a company Sony is.

Dont you think that G2's UI is more childish.
Sony try to keep their basics strong like design, walkman , camera which are essential

This is of course not the successor of Z1. This is a refreshed vesion of ZL. Z1 was too much critisized for its bezels. There were huge bezels because it was waterproof. In this phone, Sony is showing that they can produce the Z1 with less bezels when it doesn't become waterproof.
Also, I think it is so early to expect the release the successor of Z1 next month because the rivals (samsung, htc, apple) are gonna release their flagships in march or april. Sony is gonna do the same.
