Im here in korea.. and u know what,, im using lte-a, fast but eats up ur data plan unnecessarily. e.g. youtube video buffers in blink of an eye and if u switch to another video all downloaded data is lost.. plus, there is no unlimited plan on lte-a, max is 16GB and u get it for 120 USD alongwith unlimited calls. I use the 8GB plan for 75 USD a month btw

I guess even though the UK doesn't have LTE-A yet, all networks here are pretty much set for 4G, can't wait till I get 4G on the Three network, I guess I'll be enjoying unlimited 4G at no extra cost :P

AnonD-226020, 20 Jan 2014Wow!People in Korea are lucky. In India, 4G speed is like 3... moreI feel your pain mate.. Here we don't even have 3G at affordable rates and the coverage is so limited and speed is sluggish most of the time. Wish I lived in Korea to enjoy LTE-A

1. It was KT who came up with LTE-A with the S800 S4. It was the first company in the world to offer such services as well and they had world's fastest LTE with LTE-A until now. SK comes up with a competing technology only now partially using KT's own infrastructure, just broadcasting to each phone using more channels at the same time. The Snapdragon 800 does not support that technology anyway so for current gen phones SK barely catches up.
2. 10mhz and 20mhz are not broadcasting frequencies - they are frequency widths. So they're using several channels within 20mhz range at ~1800mhz, and several channels within 10mhz range for ~800mhz. I don't expect a lot of knowledge about telecommunication networks, but you know, they're basics and this is a site with gsm in its name.
Another interesting fact is, those are theoretical speeds. In practice you'll have something like 50mbps-120mbps depending on conditions, not much more than "regular" LTE-A (which usually maxes out at 100mbps during perfect conditions using KT's dense new gen network in Seoul), but more cost on the chipset radio's side and its power drain.

Wow!People in Korea are lucky. In India, 4G speed is like 3G and some times worse. Only one or two service providers provide 4G but the monthly charge is like buying a new android smartphone each month with data limited to 20-30GB D/U included. Dnt knw when 3G internet will be cheap and affordable in India..leave 4G to dreams.
