Anonymous, 29 Jan 2014what are you talking about, low light photos are not that g... moreFor its time, devices from SoniEriksson , were among the best , they were serious competitors for nokia ! And now , Sony is not a competitor of Nokia , it can not compare to the quality of the photo , which shows the technology Pureview! And Sony can not even compare to the iPhone 5s quality . especially in night mode. You can check this on Gsmarena. Sony also loses cameras from Lg G2 and Nexus 5 . Now HTC one 2 M8 will release its new flagship and it will be better than its predecessor , the same thing I can say about SGS5 . Understand sony they can not compete ! Apple are not stupid, 2 years they are on 8 mpx . and all because they understand that in a thin shell , you can not do more than 8, instead they increase the matrix and the sheer size of the pixel in iPhone 1.5 microns, on sony only 1.1 microns. So I know whereof I speak, that's why so disappointing result..

AnonD-228454, 28 Jan 2014I'm sorry but photo quality for 2014 top smartphone, is rub... morewhat are you talking about, low light photos are not that good with most compact cameras either, even those with much larger optics and sensors than mobiles.
Even with DSLRs it can be a problem, if the exposure times goes to high and hand-shake affects the sharpness.

In good light, these cameras are lightyears ahead of those old SonyEricsson devices you are talking about. Much better pixel level detail, much less noise, much less artifacts.

And some of the camera LEDs of today, even outdoes the real flashes of those SE devices of the past, in terms of throw distance.

I dont know what you expect, but you will have a hard time finding it, if its even possible even with dedicated cameras (film or digital).
Unless you use a tripod, and then its no longer handheld and really impratical.

I'm sorry but photo quality for 2014 top smartphone, is rubbish! Nothing will change, Sony again will has the worst cameras on smartphones... Early SonyEricsson cameraphones was one of the bests, because was Ericsson! Now we all see, what happend with sony without Ericsson....(( I'm really tired of looking at as a year-on-year on sony cameraphones, nothing has changing ... Every time, you hear about bad software on sony cameras. Why, why, Samsung, iPhone, nokia, Lg, cameraphones, has not this problems... , only Sony smartphones has this problems .. Why this shit must continue in 2014.?

The pictures are coming from a prototype phone so the picture quality is not so good. There's an LED flash and maybe the same camera ad Sony Xperia Z1.

Sony! put the Elm(your best)\S4-octa(samsung's best)camera processing modules on the Z2, and only then, we'll talk about improving android class camera performance!

The Z1 didn't fire it's flash in the first tv photo because the tv fooled the exposure meter in the phone into thinking it's a bright scene as it is majority bright white whereas the tv in the other shot is not so bright, hence flash fired.

The indoor photo looks like it's probably only a LED flash. Rats. I was really hoping for a quality xenon flash. Most of today's flagships take decent photos outdoors, but few take good ones indoors. Only the Nokia 808 and 1020 take decent indoors photos of people. I was really hoping Sony would give those of us who care about indoors people pictures an Android option with a xenon flash.
