Some times you only need to side look your notification when your phone put at side table without needed to take it up.
And most SONY screen can't do it. Last year only Xperia Z Ultra and Tablet Z came with great IPS display, the rest all low class cheap display TN or VA panel that is truly bad viewing angle as it washed out even slightly narrow view.

Note 3 color reproduction has been rate one of the most accurate color by professional site when set the setting to Movie mode. Even the default mode also kind of accurate just with slight color punch up.
So anyone talk AMOLED screen fake and etc is they either never seen the latest AMOLED screen or they don't even know what is correct color reproduction.

All AMOLED phones except one i had did this, on Nokia N9 it was actually more greenish blue but that doesnt really change anything. The exception was the ancient grandfather of AMLOED phones, the Nokia N85.
Open a webpage with white background and tilt your GN2, if you cant see the white turning blue you have so faulty eyes that you shouldnt even try to have an opinion.

Note 2 has almost perfect viewing angles. The screen and colors look fantastic, even from very narrow angles, like 30 degrees.
No Sony mobile from the recent years, that I have seen, comes anywhere near this. Certainly not Z or T. Granted, I didn't have a closer look at ZU or Z1. But I can't imagine them being better in this aspect. I would be very surprised if they turned out to be close.
And regarding the colors, you are aware that the screen can be calibrated to your liking, right? You get 3 settings by default (I love Natural). Screen looks spectacular, without overblowing the greens and yellows. Color accuracy fanatics can also use a custom kernel to achieve even more accurate colors.
Sometimes I just stare at the screen of my Note 2 and contemplate how great it looks. Sure, the text is not 1080p sharp, but that's actually not necessary. Pictures and movies look simply stunning. No Sony ever came close.

Its virtually zero viewing angle, only a very small titl to either side makes white turn into blue, thats a huge color shift. Tested Note 3 and found more of the same, maybe a bit better but still very noticeable. Z and Z1 may be worse from extreme viewing angles but at normal slight angles Note 2 has the worst. Unless you happen to love to see blue where it should be white.

Thats the advantage of being a fanboy, one can ignore what one knows and what one doesnt know one can always make up. That way gaining knowledge becomes irrelevant, one can stay ignorant for the rest of the life and hope the village will make village id10t a paid title.

sony has already ditched the Old TFT Lcd Panel... now they are using IPS screens in their phones .. the xperia Z1 compact is an IPS display

hi friends,all websites are totaly wrong when they said that sony display are inferior ,i personly compare even low budget phone xperia sola with s4 mini and iphone5 wiht same video Hd,and xperia is way better then both,i accept viewing angle are not perfect but compare front of srcreen ,imagine high end models of xperia are miles ahead,plz compare yourself plz i challenged that xperia is best in videos and photos

I would really recommend you to wait until the Z2 (I guess the D6503 is the Z2) appears in Barcelona with the confirmed specs. Well I was planning to buy the Z1 Compact but I am very disappointed by the test images gsmarena (good job with the review) published. Well in my case I think I will wait until the Z2 Compact is announced. Greetings.

I have seen a Z1 vs a Note2 and indeed the note 2 has better viewing angles. BUT the z1 has better sun legibility. Please note that I have seen them not just speculating like the GSMarena guys like to do.
Finally those "poor" viewing angles are an exaggeration, if you see the phones working you'll know what i'm saying
