y do u people talking if u dont know anything the nokia is not making an android phone android is an opensource os which was bought by google and put all the google stuff like playstore, google map, play music u know most of us dont use all these things but which uses the ram and drains the battery nikia might have directly bought android from their real owners that is why its not included google stuffs and the plus point is u can use android with complete privacy like symbian and also 512mb ram would be enough cause of missing google crap apps cause most ram is taken by those apps. the only thing i wonder is can we install an apk file from outside like that in symbian if not its a crap if yes its a boombox

aj, 15 Feb 2014Is Nokia going mad? They need a killer phone like s4 /note ... moreThis phone is for the masses. Nokis is not looking for S4 G2 Z market they are looking for people that cant afford an +400 dlls phone and want something with Android.

This is for "eliminate" Asha models from market...

Is Nokia going mad? They need a killer phone like s4 /note 3 etc not phone for kids with all old hardware and make it more boring that it have no access to Google market.why and who bought it. May be just kids?if they want to see them again phone king and we all want to see our king back on number 1 position. see Motorola BlackBerry slowly slowly .....?
Now wp market is OK as well as so if if they stay on wp is OK for them or if making android give buyer 100% free choice not stop them from Google services. if any company make phone like that is die before launch.

Anonymous, 15 Feb 2014That's 100% SPECULATION on your part. I've yet to see any ... moreDid you believe nokia born yesterday?, of course they can do that, they know about business, they can release an locked version and just let the basis of Android OS, not a fully functional Android Phone. Even Google will kill root possiblities in a near future and thats a fact.

Besides Google will not allow Nokia phones run Play Store or APk and REMEMBER Nokia is NOT releasing an Android phone is A FORKED ANDROID phone.....since Nokia is using just the code not the entire ecosystem of Android.

People need to define between Android Phone and Forked Version of Android. Dont let your mind fly that high....

Erna, 15 Feb 2014There are lots of apps in Play Store that contains malware.... moreSure... that must be the one and only explanation, nothing to do with getting their own cut from sales in their own store, the fact they need to monetize their own services and past acquisitions (Maps for instance) or even the part where they are now within the Microsoft universe of services (Bing, Office, Outlook, etc).

Oh well, but if you say it's only to protect their costumers from malware (that may or may not exist in Google Play) then who am I to argue.

There are lots of apps in Play Store that contains malware. Nokia still wants every one of it's consumer to be protected so they're making sure that each and every Android app that will be included in their own Nokia Android Store is legit.
