Guys I don't know about internationally but here in the states more people are going to get the galaxy s3 than last year because in a month or two it will be free on contract, so there is nothing to worry about. It may take a while, but you will get the update to kit Kat, and possibly 4.5 when it comes out!

S3 mini got only update from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2. Skiped 4.2,4.3 and now 4.4. I'll guess i'll skip samsung next time i buy a phone.

Nthing to vry my s3 frnds........we will gt the 4.4 kitkat updaye in our phone because if they r giving update in s3 mini the we will also get the update as well as in the official sites and other samsung sites, its given that the samsung galaxy s3 phone will get the update by the end march.............so jst chill my frnds.........dont wrry!!!!!

just chill all of the s3 owners out there as s3 will get kitkat . i am saying this by surety ; as if you check the specifications of s3 with 1gb of ram i.e. gt-i9300 and s3 with 2gb of ram i.e. gt-i 9305 it is clearly mentioned that they both are planned to get upgraded to 4.4.2 kitkat .... and until this statement is written you do not have to get worried about the update not coming to your phone .....

Hi I recently buy sam s3 and I used with old os. Suddenly 4.3 jellybean came and updated. Now the new os taken more space and ram and battery draining very faster. Now there is some news without solving the issue of 4.3 jellybean they moved to 4.4 jb. And it will not available to s3. Very good news. Because of s3 your market percentage groves to 84 / 100 more the apple phone as per record. So think sbout the upcoming mobile and its features. Samsung people please make correct decision or give a good reason for the issue. You future based on people thoughts and your service. Skipping something purposefully is cheating.

Something strange about this claim is the fact that the WiFi version of the Tab 3 7.0 only has 1GB of RAM, yet it still gets an update.

Here is my logic.
1. The Galaxy Note 8.0 and Note 2 both use the same Exynos 4412 chipset as the S3 but have 2 GB RAM. They are both getting 4.4 so it's not a chipset problem.
2. Many modders are already using 4.4 on the i9300 international S3 model with the same chipset and only 1 GB RAM which proves the same point.
There is absolutely no reason to believe that the S3 won't get 4.4 which would be it's final update.
Lastly, Samsung doesn't need to worry about international S3 owners not upgrading since the i9300 version doesn't support 4G LTE. Many people will upgrade to a Note 3 or S5 just to use the much faster 4G LTE networks.
If the rumors are true, I am sure the backlash will definitely hurt Samsung. Many S3 owners will stop buying Samsung products and advise others to avoid buying anything made by Samsung.
