13 Feb, 2009
The Samsung Blue Earth is a solar powered, eco-friendly phone and it quite looks the part. Samsung say it was designed to resemble a rounded pebble and with the solar rear panel users can always ...

It seems to be a well rounded phone. Change one small thing like having to charge your phone to make a differance in the world.
      Well done samsung

People if you study more you'll know that just because what's happening to our world is called global warming it doesn't mean everything gets warmed up all the time. in places closer to the northern and southern poles it gets cooler as well. Just think about Venus where it is extremely hot during it's day but also really cold during it's night, and if what they say about the world slowly going around slower and slower we're actually going to get much like Venus, which is when there's no sun the temperature will plummet and when there is sun it will fry everything that'`s even close to being alive

I don't care how uch it will cost but since i'm in Brasil I can expect it at around R$3.000,00 for this baby. But i'm already saving to get one if it comes this way, since i absolutely loved it. It would be even better if there were two sim card slots in it(I know it's unlikely to happen)!

I didn't say anything about it!.. as for the pinch between economy and global warming that's right! Governments tend to choose economy rather then environment because they care more about their ratings and reelection.. it's a typical human behavior to think in the short/middle term rather then in the long term. This way was valid during the XX century when the world population was 1,6 billion in 1900 and 2,5 billion in 1950. As for now we are almost 7 billion and counting and the world is completelly another. If we don't find way out of the logic "keep the economy alive (or growing) at the expenses of the environment" the consequences might be grave and needless to say the economy (and as consequence the people) will be the one to suffer to try to repair it. It's a cicle created by humans... so to my mind each of those called "eco" initiatives, even if small, are welcomed.

I bet you're one of those people who has never had a non Nokia phone in your life. Well, yes this phone may not make a difference at all as stated in my previous comment but Samsung's phones are much better than what Nokia has to offer. I've had Nokia,Ericsson,Sony Ericsson,Motorola and Samsung before and Nokia is the worst phone i've ever had. You can't judge a phone by merely looking at a spec sheet. You have to try it on your first hand. Hey, can you browse files via bluetooth on a Nokia? I bet you still have to download an application. Can you increase the maximum volume on a Nokia by just entering a 'speaker code'? I bet not. Can you charge a Nokia by just plugging it into a computer via the USB Port while you transfer music or use it as a flash drive? I think not. There are some useful 'hidden' features that are not documented on spec sheets found on sites like this and I have found that Nokias have no such useful hidden features as I have had lots of Nokias before. Nokia also uses cheap materials like cheap plastic. Nokias are for losers.

Allan, only because your country (or maybe your city) was not affected yet by the climate change it doesn't mean that there is nothing going wrong with the world! By the way, in the north pole, just north of your country (and in fact part of your country in the northern border) you can see great differences of the ice cap of the Artic in summers (acording to NASA information). If you don't believe in it, that's ok. I tell you by my own experience. I have been visiting Ukraine for 10 years and the winters there could easly reach -30C. This is no longer observed and people there hardly consider they have winter as -10C/ -15C for them is nothing comparing to the winters they had 20 or 30 years ago.. winters there are every year closer to the mild european winters!
But you still have the right to believe that climate change is simply a "plot" of some organization that might profit from it.. Canada is definitelly part of the world and that's why you should pay attention to the fact that if the effects there are few (if at all) you should not disregard the places where the effects are already greatly felt.
Ah.. if you don't like the freezing temperatures of Canada you could look for a warmer place to live in ;)

There is a lot of evidence that it is - and not much evidence that it isn't (if any)... problem is with this phone - it may be green - but what is the actual carbon footprint of production of each of them - I bet the carbon emissions offset by its use in preference to a normal mobile don't offset the carbon emissions involved in its production and shipping.... but nevertheless must surely be better than a normal mobile still... The world really is stuffed. And I don't think the middle of Canada in Winter is a place from which to gauge the extent of global warming, is it Allan?
