I'm a fan of Samsung but will sure as hell not buy this S5. Feel really let down by Samsung who did pretty much nothing. S4 is just as good IMO. How can they keep going with the cheap plastic look is sick. "Samesung" I guess.. For sure going with a HTC or iPhone now..

I am not defending Apple, in fact I despise Apple, but Apple did take Samsung to court in the US over the Galaxy S and the USA variants and the Galaxy S2 and its USA variants, they also tried to kill the Galaxy Nexus ... which is why Google probably went to LG for the N4 and N5.
Either way the S3/S4 and now clone S5 are a result of Apple winning court cases in the USA against Samsung over design which is again why Samsung have changed their design language.
As for the SoC, Samsung still make the SoC for Apple, but you can probably say within reason that some type of agreement has been made where Samsung cant copy or use design system elements as they did with the original Hummingbird SoC for the Galaxy S1/Wave/S2 and then rebranded it to Exynos for S2/S3 and then due to not having that many LTE patents or possibly because they cant develop there version of Exynos to have LTE had to go with Qualcomm for dedicated LTE on SoC.
At the end of the day the S5 is a major drop for Samsung but iots due to a lot of reasons.
My advice is buy Nexus5 (provided you can get it from the Playstore in your country) as its clearly the best smartphone right now for price, bang for buck, performance, design, function and most of all purpose.
That or buy the S4 LTE-A version i.e.: the LTE qualcomm version.

I will skip this one. It's such a disappointment. As a Samsung fan, I'm disappointed. I had high hopes for this phone but I'll go for Lumia 1520.

They copied the silver bezels and they copied the speaker location. All Samsungs used to have their speakers on their backs but Note 3 has its speaker at the bottom bezel, iPhone style... Samsung is so pathetic that it even removed the radio FM from their Note 3 and S4... also iPhone style!

Is that the chipset that will basically guarantee the (Exynos-based version of) S5 will be ignored by Cyanogenmod (stable)...? Yeah, way to go...

The maximum profit of Samsung will go down in 2014 by the new generation of Galaxy S cuz it's not costumer expectation as more creative design (not look similar the old version), high processor system (at least use their own CPU chip with 64 bit) and more new technology that be strange from other company. Moreover the massive of competition of other smartphone company will be the main reason to kill Samsung. Therefore Samsung should do the new marketing research abt the costumer need in their day life, What they want? Not only 5 simple feature that Samsung was found on costumer need in MWC 2014.

In any case its pretty clear that Samsung is afraid of loosing another $1 billion+ to Apple, clearly the S3/S4 and now S5 clone is a result of Apple basically screwing everyone over and Samsung not willing to risk another $1 billion+ after the Galaxy S (the USA variants of the Galaxy S) Galaxy S2 (and the USA variants).
We all should of learned from.the Galaxy Nexus that Samsung has lost it with design and function, the last good thing that Samsung have done is the Note series and even then that is slowly going down hill with the neo version of the Note 3.
Basically Samsung no longer copy, which is a great thing but it also shows that they have nothing original ...
If you look at the last original mobile that Samsung did it was the Wave series of smartphones ... So that should say something to everyone, Tizen based handsets which are "original" Samsung handsets should be damn good in design and function, but purpose?
We all saw what happened to Bada OS ... Great premium based Wave handsets let down by the OS ...
As for exynos ... My guess is that Apple now keeps it secrets much closer to their chest then before.
