AnonD-150017, 27 Feb 2014totally agree. this will chase customers away as they will ... moreWell they didn't point a gun to our head to upgrade. As long as the phone works well for you, just use it for about 2 years. Most phone that come out within 1 year aren't that worthy upgrade unless it's your 2nd year.

This is not a good strategy, it will reduce there sales because some people will end up saying ill just wait another 6 months for the new one, and people will continuously say this and no one will buy. Dumb move, flagships arew to be released every year. A consumer wont enjoy buying a phone knowing that in just another 3 months the new one is coming out.

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2014It's good to see technology advancing but it also sometimes... moreProbably cos people keep changing so someone must have been earning all the money and if they don't keep up they'll lag behind and if there's no competition then consumers will suffer too.

Rafe Firman, 27 Feb 2014Sony rules? what?! lol. I know you're either blind fanboy ... moreNo one here is saying anything about Samsung. Yes it is a market leader. Yes it has produced some noteworthy phones like s2 and the original note. But this is a Sony page. If you want to praise Samsung gp on the band-aid phone pages

Mel, 27 Feb 2014I just love the new lame name for galaxy s5/ Band aid phone... moreSony rules? what?! lol.
I know you're either blind fanboy or paid one.
Your statement doesn't have the truth and misleading.
Accept the fact Samsung is number one, doesn't matter what you and I said.
I'm HTC fans btw... I own it since hero, incre2, sensation xl, one xc, one, one DS. and I still see the fact that Samsung is no. 1.
is that hard for you to understand simple fact?
I don't like Samsung plastic and made fun its bandaid on my fb. But Sony fanboy like you disgusts me the most:-)

[deleted post]You call me a troll? Everyone knows who is a troll. You are trolling on both the S5 pages and Z2 pages saying you are feeling sorry for Z1 owners while you don't know one simple fact that every display uses a tft layer.
Apply BAND-aid to the burned area.

There is not something inherently wrong with launching a new phone every six months. But as soon as this fast release schedule mean that they abandon software updates for older models, to push you into buying the newest model, its just bad for consumers. The same goes for changing connectors and similar so extra things like chargers etc dont work.

It's good to see technology advancing but it also sometimes sucks because once we buy something, it could be outdated within a month. Also, I'm wondering when a phone will start using the Snapdragon 805. I thought it would be used in some of the devices announced at MWC.

this is way too short of a cycle, maybe if they come out with a phone/compact/phablet flagships at different times like samsung, it could work
but if its two standard phones like the z and then z1 within the same year it may leave a bad taste in peoples mouths
but then sony has been doing this for a while, htc used to do this too, one x and then a few months later one x+

it's ok. you see for example samsung release 2 flag ship every year, the S series and the Note series. Sony has just one so there it is.
if they keep 2 years of update for them it's not really a problem.

Rafe Firman, 27 Feb 2014Feel sorry for Z1 owners, they must be angry! but wait... ... moreHere we meet again. If you are so hardcore Samsung fan what the hell are you doing on a Sony news page? And don't say that I am also on S5 page. I am a tech enthusiast not a fanboy. Go on your band-aid flagship page and praise it all you want.

Punisher, 27 Feb 2014Yeah right. I think all phone companies are getting lost in... moretotally agree. this will chase customers away as they will be not time to even test the products properly, i thing even one year cycles are too short cuz as the devices pile up, updates slow down cuz while they launch the "new device" the developers and designers are busy working on the next device....what happens to the older models? How will they keep up? why not launch a power house once, update and tweek it keeping it relevant and customers happy and lauch a new one with new thing and gagets to make it worth while.... look at samsung, the change from S3 to s4 saw ir for remote control of tv, air guester, smart scroll and what not (tho ppl ay they are gimmicks, they are still there) and then instead of updating and tweeking they launch the s5, nothing new.... heartrate monitor? wtf? if i need a doctor i know where to find one and thats not in my pocket........
