HTC Sensation that accumulated dust under the screen and HTC One that had purple tint on camera. Both are manufacturing flaws and both gave me a hard time to have fixed. Experience taught me to be wary of HTC next time. That's why I'm really concerned about that 2-camera setup. If they can't even do 1-camera right, then good luck with that.

You are missing the point of the two cameras, the main feature that will be touted is slow motion multiple impression photos. The cameras will take interlacing shots and overlap every several frames onto one photo.
I enjoy reading some of the theories from know it alls.

the dual cameras will give the photo a depth of feild to adjust the focus point of the shot to wherever you would like... blue the foreground or background

This would probably be a market leader if they made it a slight bit smaller and retain all the top notch specs.. the trend to bigger phones is crazy and stupid!!!

Tick.. credit where its due. The scenario look exciting. Specs, build, speaker positioning alone are great. But .. I will wait for a more compact version of it..... here to pocket friendliness. It is my belief that with smart use of the front real-estate on a mini one can achieve a 4.5 / 4.7 screen and keep it no bigger than a ONE "S" . . . .

Double the chance of breaking the camera functionality (i.e. if one fails, both becomes useless)? Imagine if the worst happens and both cameras suffer the purple tinting issue HTC failed to address before? The result might be red! Blood red, HTC!

It has already been explained. Dual camera modules let you have physical zoom instead of just digital zoom. Like a real camera. It also lets you have far more detail when comparing 13mp cameras
