I got my HTC ONE updated to Kit Kat and everything went haywire. Battery draining like anything. And even in idle battery reducing by 15% in 30 mins.. all the while phone getting HOT. However following some of the forums i have been able to restore the battery life..
      1) Deleted the recent updates of google search, google maps to factory settings and cleared the cache memory.
      2) Unchecked the hot word detection in google now, and in fact stopped google now altogether.
      3) Disabled the blinkfeed.
      4) Turned off the Location.
      5) THIS is the most Important: In advanced menu of WIFI, unchecked scanning always available. Further keep wifi on during sleep is checked ON always by default. Change its setting to "only when plugged in".
By doing this i have restored the battery life to normal... Till the time any further update comes.

x, 06 Mar 2014This is the reason sony doesnt rush out update and give bug... moreActually, i had an Xperia Neo, which was one of the last Sony-Ericsson phones and a minor OTA update issued after the update from Gingerbread to ICS killed the front facing camera. This affected quite a number of users but Sony never even acknowledged that there was a problem.
Everyone farts in the lift from time to time but only a few will ever own up to it. :-)

Jose, 08 Mar 2014HTC One doesn't have SD card. So, you are lying.pls see the post properly before coming to conclusions. I have replied to a specific query about the upgradation to 4.4.2 on 802d model which has a sd card slot. boss the phone costs 42k and I have 2 of em and have been to the services 6 times in a month. the service centre as also given up on it and HTC hAS FRORMALLY REQUESTED ME NOT TO UPGRADE TO 4.4.2. there is no reason for me to lie because I have been using htc ever since 2003 continuously.

The dual model is chinese. And everytihg that is made in China is crap. My One is made in Taiwan, and it updated perfectly. So, if your HTC One didn't updated correctly, it is Chinese.

Should I update my HTC one 802d to new ... morepls do not update. the new 4.4.2 update breaks wifi and the sd card becomes unusable. even the service centre does not have a solution for this. pls do not upgrade. it runs I n some cases but the minute you do a factory reset the issues are not resolveable. the sd card slots start heating rather burning.
finally htc returned my phone with a new motherboard with 4.2.2 version and requested not to upgrade the device.

About batery - you need to look the games what you install.
I update my HTC One to 4.4.2. Everything was great, but i install from Google play Bubble shooter (monkey bubble game from Facebook) and my batery drops very fast - in morning was 100%, a hour later 83% Uninstall this game and battery starts work normall!

I have recently given my HTC One to HTC service center as all of sudden few days after upgrading it to 4.4 it started over heating and draining the phone battery. Its android operating system was consuming around 96% of the battery. There is surely some issue either with device hardware of 4.4 upgrade.
