Nokia used a high resolution camera which uses oversampling techniques which gives jaw dropping images with almost no noise and purple fringing at lower resolution which makes it easy to upload the picture. Oppo used a smaller resolution camera (13 MP) which stiches some pictures to produce a 50 MP image which when zoomed at 100 percent will be very pixelated. This is just a marketing gimmick, IMHO.

If I need to take a pic, my 808 is always by my side
Anything higher needed I have my RX100 or I'll just borrow a 5DmkIII for the day

@geordie81 bro..u mad?? lol.. 808 or 1020 is a proper 41MP camera with effective resolution of 38(4:3)MP or 34(16:9)MP..Oversampling doesn't mean resizing..lol..
Well..I guess this device captures multiple pics then joins them..no offence to anyone.. :D

I read you comments and don't believe!
How many of you really know anything about camera lens/sensor/Image Quallity??
Do you really compare the tiny IMX214 sensor to Lumia 1020 Monster size camera module??
It's way more easy to put huge camera module with large sensor and lens to get great quality photos like 808 and 1020- but it is much harder to achieve almost(of course 1020 better) 1020 quality with so tiny camera module with smaller sensor and lens!
Do you even know how hard it is to capture so many details with so small lens?
I actually know thing or two and I print large format photos, with the OPPO 50MP pic I can easily print 100*150 cm canvas photos, Oppo's 50MP interpolation is much better then if I upscale the 13MP photo in Photoshop.
So if you have no clue in Large format printing and photography don't judge Oppo's camera.
P.S- Be sure that the RAW files will be much better! besides Nokia,XIAOMI and OPPO- who else gave you the camera Raw option??

Yeah certainly people do want to have more quality pictures within small smartphone and large battery backup

Definetly NOT 50 Megapixel photos at all. Look more liked 8 Megapixel. Samsung 13 MP are way much sharper and clearer. Total fabrication by Oppo 7. Do not even come close to a true 13 megapixel camera liked Samsung Note 3 or S5.

When all they'll be used for is blurred Facebook selfies taken in a dirty mirror,why not stop this stupid pixel count race and give people who don't want to take REAL photos a 0.5 MP sensor?

if we need superzoom features we have Samsung Galaxy Zoom 1 (and 2 soon), don`t need to go for upscalled photos of inexistent 50 mp sensors...it`s so China, i`m sick of their lies...at least Samsung does not pretend they have a 100 mp sensor in their Zoom phone.

We do not need "High Spec'ed" photos!
We need "Nice" photos.
Come back when you can create a smartphone camera that even a toddler can take quality photos.
We create photo on fb .. in the end will compress smaller.. whats the point...

Whenever there is a competition between hardware and software, the hardware always wins. No chance for oppo here. Still 808 and 1020 are the kings.
