It would be a very stupid move financially for HTC no matter what provision they get from Verizon. Last year, Verizon screw them over big time and cause many Verizon customers to buy many other phones instead of the One m7. Besides that it just does not make sense.

HTC needs to stop sucking up to carriers. Remember the Droid DNA? HTC One X?

It would be even worse if Verizon removes the microSD slot or whatever and has bloatware.

Well, at least it will go to other carriers eventually, the DNA and One X always remained exclusives to Verizon and AT&T.

verizon loves to do this to everyone. They force everyone in the united states to wait to get their phone so that the less than smart people on verizon can get it first. Disgusting. I am currently with verizon and was planning on switching once the ONE comes out. Guess i will be waiting another few weeks unfortunately. A very angry letter is going to be sent to them.

Seriously if this is true and even tho might be just two weeks...then HTC hasn't learned much from past blunders with exclusivity. Two crucial weeks at a time when the Sammy GS5 will be hitting some store shelves...so if this rumor is true, it is a blunder HTC can not afford. I'm sure in two weeks HTC can sell a combined four times more number of M8's with all four major carriers than with Verizon alone. HTC needs all system firing to hit the ground running... cuz we know what Sammy is capable of when it comes to marketing n moving their flagship. Even tho I have a few concerns with the device we have seen in the wild, I want HTC to do very well with this device.

Why did they do that? They stop potential customers from T-Mobile and AT&T from buying, probably forcing them to buy the Galaxy S5. Either too much confidence or flat marketing stupidity.
