summary:
Samsung= by far the top grossing android phone though nothing special about s5... and cheap design..
Sony = good specs, nice design but not comfy...and the hell with water resistant is this phone for mermaids?? plus battery problem ,,,:(
HTC= nice design and very comfy but specs are too 2012... and battery really sucks
LG = nice design cheap material though, very innovative.. good battery and affordable price..
they have pros and const in any ways... but 2014 might be a year for LG they are actually doing great since lg g2 and nexus 5.....

Most of the software features HTC touted in the M8 release are lifted right from Optimus UI and the LG G2. Even the curved edges and hand feel they mention are right from the G2 design. LG is really taking chances and not just iterating, look at the glass back of their last flagship. LG is really the company of the moment.

That's good because s5 will not sell like s2, s3 or s4 anyway. S5 is such a disappointment but the camera is good.

Actually the fingerprint scanner was a Samsung idea slated to launch on the Note 3. This would have driven the cost past what customers were willing to pay. So they canned it.

Samsung doesnt have region lock... my friend lives in australia and he has come to india and is using an indian sim card without any problems on his note 3 ...

This year HTC / Sony held back.. slowed their releases, and samsung release quickly.. thus the weak and unwanted S5 is born.

LOLZ @ Samsung. I love it when this happens to OEMs. I hope they all suffer for giving users a hard time in regard to updates, bootloaders and bloatware. This is supposed to be open source....when you buy a car, the manufacturer doesn't tell you how to pimp it up.

But its ok, and do you know why? Because there is nothing wrong with Sonys design, and when its not broken then why should they fix it? Samsung on the other hand does not have any good design, its very much broken and should be fixed, asap.

Dont deny that it sucked on Moto Atrix, it was more defective than not. For sure i credit this one to Apple, no need to swipe, just hold. they could still speed it up a bit though, and expand the usability.
About fingerprint sensors in other stuff, they dont work well. There were (and still are) some airlines that let you board through the departure gate with fingerprint instead of regular boarding pass, it was a nightmare, first they would grab my finger and swipe it for me, several times, to get a readable result. Yes, the things are so "defective" that the passengers could not simply swipe their own finger.
But ok, so then i was already checked in and could go to the gate, and this time i only had to swipe the finger to board the aircraft, since it was already registered thoroughly in the check-in counter, right? WRONG, the same procedure would be repeated during boarding, the gate crew had to grab all our fingers and swipe several times to get passenger name and seat number up on the display. Didnt take many flights before i started to demand a regular boarding pass instead, fingerprint tech never worked well before iPhone 5s.

Samsung now is blocked by Sony and HTC
I don't think so Samsung will make it as It did last year or before!
HTC did a great job improving the design and build quality in the new HTC one M8 also with a high specs as well. Samsung's specs are high too, but build quality and design are Zer0!
Samsung should change design and build quality philosophy! everybody is bored of the same big thing with the same lame things around!
Samsung, Learn from Sony and HTC!

No one will miss out. I work for a Telco and last year when the Galaxy S4 came out we only sold one on launch day.
Only iPhones sell out at launch...
