I just don't believe that this is going to be a 5.5" screen in a '5" body," as they claim. At least, it's not going to be the same size body as something like the Nexus 5. It's just a bunch of hype.

I was excited when I first heard about the OnePlus One. But the more I read about this phone, it's clear it will have it's pluses and minues. There will be a set of compromises, like with every other flagship phone.

It's not going to be the "never settle" (as they claim) phone that gives you everything you want at a low price. I'm sure it will be fine. But it's also just going to be another phone.

It will have better cpu, battery, camera, bigger display, more ram probably. If thats not worth taking a risk with a new company for you then dont - your choice.

LG G2 is the only close competitor to this phone but I will take better specs any time for the same price.

W... moreThis was due to inflation which affected prices but also due to the fact you mentioned above. Yes, Apple contributed a fair share to why we pay so much for a high end smartphone today whilst the real cost (manufacturing, delivery, maintenance) of it is less than half of what we pay.

Not really. I ordered my HTC ONE M8 yesterday and will be the proud owner of it next week Monday.

I do like the fact though that high spec phones can be delivered for a reasonable price. I guess sales will benefit from lower market prices since a phone, although the latest and greatest is geekisch, are commodity items.

LG G2 - available now at a similar price (in my country), except it has 32gb storage, not 16. And a warranty, which OnePlus won't have in my country.
I don't get them. Interesting device, but price defeats purpose. It was expected to arrive at a very low price of $400, but at $500 for 16gb it doesn't make much sense - too much competition from known brands for customers to choose an unknown China-made smartphone (OnePlus didn't release a single product prior to One, thus its an unknown company to average customer, unlike Samsung and LG, Sony and even Lenovo).
