This is a misleading marketing strategy; first of all, people who bought the samsung s5 would be upset by the release of a premium s5, and people who didnt buy the s5 yet will wait for the premium s5.
If this is a trick in the marketing war between samsung and apple, i think they should be more concerned with competition from Sony and HTC, as both brands are offering much better flagships than Samsung.

But it cant be near, maybe it will really be "mid-cycle", meaning it will come about the same time as Xperia "Z3", which will surely also bring QHD. Q3-14 will be the earliest to get the S805, so say August availability at best, announcement in late June is my tip.
On a related topic, i think its just a matter of months before Sony and LG announces QHD phones now but they will likely be phablets, like "Xperia Z2 Ultra", the question is if they can take the chance to run a QHD resolution on the S801 with max clock for the Adreno 330, my guess is that they will, at least LG will be more than willing to compromise GPU performance that way, Sony may delay the Z2 Ultra untill S805 is available for mass production.

This is definitely a crazy upgrade, but samsung should hit the brakes a bit, they are pushing out products like crazy and this device will most likely slow GS5 sales coz there's no point buying a soon to be upgraded device.
