I've browsed through their website and I can't find a concrete explanation, but I'd bet on Phoneblocks being one of the developers for Project Ara parts/blocks?

One of the concerns I have is this phone has the abiltity to change the whole phone industry. But only if manafactures and phone makers get on board and make parts for it. What would be the benefit for a company like Samsung as they just dont want to be a phone part maker they love the fact that they can sell you a whole for £500 or more. selling you just a chip or a screen part will have an effect on their whole business. And so my question is why would they do it.

Max, 10 Apr 2014So, now when you drop your phone it won't be the battery co... moreit uses electro-permanent magnets to hold modules in place just like electro-permanent doors, if we don't say it is impossible we can say it is very unlikely to unclip modules when the device is On.

This could be the last mobile we all buy. Keep the skeleton for life and just upgrade as needed.

People have been able to modify computers, cars and houses for years. This is what we've been waiting for!

So, now when you drop your phone it won't be the battery cover unclipping but 10 modules in 10 different deirections? Sounds good... :)

Concept is perfect, they just need to make sure the phone looks good and not some lego set a toddler plays with which I'm not going to bring around
