Impressive .... So basically Samsung sold WORLDWIDE on a month what Apple sold in just a couple of market in a week .... Meh

    Someone who knows, 13 May 2014Samsung got their sales because of the help from PC fairs. ... moreHaha ha apple's most important parts are made by Samsung such as A........ processors , nand flash memory , , display (coming ipad) etc. Samsung SUPER AMOLED display is far better than old ips lcd . And most important ,iphone 5s manufacturing cost is just $199 but check it in the market , five times more. Samsung galaxy s5 has much more BOM cost than apple. Apple is just assembler company because almost all parts buy from other companies.

      I don't understand everyone's fascination with shipped vs. sold. If Samsung ships 10 million phones to best buy, rogers, t-mobile, verizon, vodafone. ..then all of those companies are paying for them. Samsung doesn't care if those companies buy those phones and sells them or throws them in the garbage any more than if Verizon does a buy one get one free for them. Samsung gets paid to SHIP. Retailers get paid to SELL at a mark-up price. Usually, retailers like making money so the order based on demand.

          well i believe Samsung has to share activation numbers in 25 days which is the actual sales i am 100% sure that actual sales will not be half of the shipping units.

            do you realise what the reality is ? selling 10 mil in a market which is absorbing millions from each and every company is preety impressive ?
            do yo uthink pleople will kep buying millions of phones every year for the next 200 years ? no, eventually the tech will reach a point where people will be satisfied with what they've got, and then nobody will be selling as many as today, lets not forget that there's been 1 billion android sold to date.

                      Funny... i remember the same shipping vs sold comments for the S2, S3, S4 as well.

                      I wouldn't buy an S5 but its still in the top few and sells like hot cakes.

In every company they are considering each sold unit from manufacturer is sales they dont care whether it is demo or for show only. Im not with nor against Samsung but is new record for them which is great job..

                          Samsung got their sales because of the help from PC fairs. Apple does not need any help from PC fair. Their sales solely rely at every Apple store, not from PC fairs. Some more, you don't know about technology of Apple if you don't work with them. For me, I got personal experience with Samsung and Apple. All I can say is, I can't accept the android used in Samsung. Android is power but Samsung messes it up. That's why Nexus (google's phone) is not made by Samsung anymore. They chose Motorola and LG instead.

So you'd prefer Chinese knock-off roach phones flooding the market instead? These Chinese copies doesn't have better after sales support (e.g. poor software updates and repair), hardware sucks big time (worst smartphones parts that fall off and embarassing mediatek and kirin cores), and are environmental hazards. And just look at the horrible designs! They look like Apple, Samsung, Sony, and HTC copies! LOL! And yeah, IMHO to you too! Here's your 50 cents!

                                Actually, Shiiped probably does equal Sold.

                                I am in Sydney Australia and I had to wait over a week for a black handset to arrive at a major retail store. This was 2 weeks after release.

                                They had 1 white remaining but no black.

                                So yes, the shipped=sold would be pretty darn close, and who cares really as far as Samsung's wallet is concerned sold to store, or sold to customer is SOLD. They have their paycheque in the bank.

                                    Seems like there is at least one S5 on display to try in every shop selling phones...courtesy of Samsung marketing. And these are not sales, so actual sales much be much lower... i don't know a single person with an S5...

                                      Samsung sucks they just flood the market and make it easy for people to buy one. I wouldn't be caught dead using one in public. Using a no name Chinese manufacturer is better then using a Samsung phone. IMHO
