This is a good price for Asia. Here phones are mostly unsubsidized, and 170 USD is 5,500 THB, and there is nothing at this spec available in Thailand. Anyone who compares an unsubsidized phone price with subsidized phones is unclear on the concept.

Midrange 1,2ghz dual core? It should be a joke. That's way low range. Nowadays is the minimum hardware you can find in a phone. 170$? Craziness...

      I've seen cheaper mediatek octacores....

This mobile should be 80-100$ range at most, believe it or not.

I'm going to try the phone and give mozilla a go. It maybe released or aimed for developers at the moment by the wording I see on many sites, and at a higher price than others here think is worthwhile for the specs etc but as a user of firefox which does the job for me and have been using for sometime I'll try the phone. I have an iphone 5 which I am going to clean up and post to my Mum to use as it has 64GB and so she can take lots of photos and not run out of space for text messages as she often does. I really just need a phone that I can use to make and receive calls and do a few extra things with. It's good to see other people in the phone market. I am over 40 and remember the days when as a 16 year old to make a call to a girlfriend I had to use the landline in the hallway and hope no-one in my family came past me too much to hear me. Ah bliss. The main reason I carry a mobile today is because my family can call me if there is a problem, I don't wear a watch so check the time and I browse the internet at times. Have worked in IT for a while and well realise it is just computers and software whatever the 'device', and made by a company or a group of people who are interested in it at the moment. If people are really interested in something and spend a lot of their time on it, as people who work with Mozilla seem to be, and enjoy it, then that's great. Cheers for creating things that you think others would like to use.
        Cheers Cel

to those said this phone overprice, this phone meant to DEVELOPER not for consumer. this phone can run on latest 2.0 nightly build. t2mobile need release update so the cost more higher than consumer phone. wait until alcatel one touch fire e/s release it will more cheaper with better spec than this phone.

for those comment android was better, u guys didnt know when android release for consumer back in 2008. android more laggy with crappy or same spec as entry level firefox os. but FFOS manage to run smoother than android.

for those interested using Firefox os, better wait until version 2.0(next year release). v2.0 has same capability as latest android and IOS. i'm not recommended for below than 2.0 release because there is less feature than today smartphone OS

Why create an OS from scratch???
Mozilla should have considered using WebOS and heavily modified its core

Those criticizing Firefox browser for desktop don't know what they are talking about. I tried several browsers, and none compares to Firefox. Only one version was bad too heavy don't remember which it was years ago made me change to Chrome. But it took me just a few minutes to realize Chrome sucks. Yes it's better then IE but 2 browsers are enough on my PC and since we cannot get ride of the stupid IE I still use it. As for the OS I would like to give it a try. For those Android lovers, yes Android is nice but has too many bugs some of them ridiculous. Sometimes its not even a bug but a feature, (stupid feature probably). But this is what happens with Agile methodology on SW, increase of bugs which eventually are never solved in that version because there is not time and releasing a new product and correct problems there it's better. What happens is that we can get stuck with a phone full of bugs and without solutions because the manufacteur doesn't release a new version. PC OS is going in that direction sadly, we have Windows 8 and 9 is almost out.

Even a fairly good computer would take lots of time just to boot up Netscape 4, unacceptable long time, feature wise it was amazing but performance wise unusable, it was a fail and they were never able to recover.

Edit: But netscape was already not doing great at the time, IE 3.x was improving very fast and it didnt make it better for Netscape that MS bundled IE with Windows, a useable IE even.

FFOS/Boot2Gecko is the most interesting since BB10, anyone who hasnt tried it or is not going to try it are not in the position to carry any legitimate opinion.

and in Major situations (in 99% of Situations ) Firefox uses less Resources and cares your Computer more than Chrome and opera.

and Firefox is still most Powerfull Browser, with Features , which never do Chrome.

Lg G3 launched last night. The speed Android devices are being developed it will be very hard for FireFox OS to catch up with it or any other competitor as this development speed of Mozilla will only make them launch their phone may be in next 10 years.Better for Mozilla to quit it same as Ubuntu failed to launch in due time.
