Actually Nokia now is slightly follow SE step. They out lots similar phone by only slightly changing the spec and design.
Nokia phone is bad in design for few recent release.
Nokia phone is made some mistake on it previous N96 which even worst than N95 8GB. Samsung Innov 8 is the king of Symbian S60 v3.2 now.
Nokia 5800 XM is selling well because too make sticky Nokia fans and 5800 XM is the only full touch screen phone out by them. So nor mater how crap this phone are, it still sell brilliantly.
New coming N97 won't be a successor if Nokia still don't care about SPEED. Most nokia Symbian phone have an issue of speed. Symbian is such a great OS if Nokia put more effort on Hardware. Speed is important. Samsung Omnia HD base on it looks more promising and upcoming SE Idou base on it modified version look even more promising.
SE notice it fault and hurry up to fix it with new coming promising phone like W995 and Idou and more to coming.
Samsung is steping to Nokia with more support on Symbian(always better spec than Nokia), Windows Mobile and even Android. Samsung is rock now.
If Nokia not changing it, Nokia one day will became not only less 91% sells but like SE now loss.
I am stick to what phone is rock. Never been a fans of any brand. Last time I use Nokia, then I switch to SE, once in LG, never in Motorola and now in Samsung :-)

Because most... moreWhile I agree with you, Kitch, that Nokia does listen to its customers and the its a fighter. I don't fully agree with you that Nokia would not fall to Samsung. Yes, I must admit I'm a Nokia fanboy myself, but you have to face the facts that Samsung has a lot more product ranges to help keep money flowing through this economic crisis, therefore can put more money into phones if needed. Nokia can only rely on phones, accessories and applications economic inflow. Although, I definitely hope that Nokia don't fall behind.
P.S. Can't wait for N97!!!

Bilou, 17 Apr 2009Funny how people will stick to Nokia whatever phone they ma... moreDo u know why nokia users are so loyal ????
Because most of phone user starts with a mid/lower-range nokia phone and they simply love those phones as compared to other brands. Now when they upgrade their phone to upper-range then they have no second thought other than nokia. And the fact is that nokia deliver upto their expectation. All those who are complaining about nokia should think one question why they complain about nokia only and what they gain from complain ?? Nokia has a very good history of listening to their customer's complain and they address to fix complains either in next phone or from firmware update which is highly unlikely with other brands.
And some of you are forecasting that nokia might fall to samsung. But i m very much sure that it won't happen. Nokia is a die-hard fighter and it never allow samsung to take over. Look at the history of nokia then u find that from 18xx they have survived many economic crisis and changing their product portfolios.
They are currently focusing on internet related services but they will surely bounce back may be in 2010. Look at how nokia clinched slim-phone market after they realized that people really love slim factor. Same thing will also happen with touchscreen.
So all those nokia hater keep watching but u r too small in numbers to bring any harm to world's largest phone maker

Bilou, 17 Apr 2009Funny how people will stick to Nokia whatever phone they ma... moreI choose Nokia because I like their Symbian based smartphones and my Nokia N95 8GB does everything, if not more, that I want it to do. I could say the same about Sony Ericsson users being blind, but people are allowed to choose whatever phone they want.

Funny how people will stick to Nokia whatever phone they make. Nokia fans are so loyal they are just blind.
Every time Nokia lauch a new phone there is a big buzz, then people realize it is the same disappointment as usual. But they think the next one will be "the one"...

Flames, 17 Apr 2009I'm done discussing with you and will leave you to stew in ... moreWhat exactly is the main issue?
I'm not disputing 5800 sales figure. They did sale in great numbers and still selling. I have just pointed that there are great number of returns as well. That is also a fact. Yes those defects might have taken care by now. I'm not disputing it.
Even with 5800s record sale Nokia's profit is declining and so it's market share. That's again fact. So where exactly am I "ducking and diving and coming up with sily twists to the main issue at hand" as you said?
Think am done discussing with you too. Facts are facts.

buy the phone you like!I'm glad someone appreciates what i'm trying to say. If people want to buy the 5800 with all it's flaws why should it bother someone???.
I just don't understand how some people think, take me for an example, i don't like Samsung phones at all but i never get pissed off that people buy Samsung phones over Nokia phones. It's called preference no one holds a g.u.n to anyone to buy a phone, just don't be pissed off that the 5800 is outselling most touch screen phones which are deemed superior.

Anonymous, 17 Apr 2009Since Nokia`s sales fall so sharply I would not be surprise... moreIs a dual slider S60 not a copy of the N95
About the Inov8, bro as i said before the OmniaHD looks great and up until a fews days ago i though the the I8510 was just as sweet..
But its useless, the Inov8 is great on specs but the phone is just a depressed phone, huge and bulky and the S60 on samsung needs alot more time to mature and the Optical D-pad it's not as fun as it sounds all in all the N95 is still more Lively than the I8510 yes even without a 8MP cam,
BTW this whole the Higher the MPs the better is total BS, even SE's idou when its out in retail will be nothing compared to a stand alone less than a fifth of the price 5MP cam such as sony's own cybershot
Samsung and SE know their fans are people who get sucked into that kinda hype just like apple
Nokia's got respect from its ture fans, so much to say for samsung
later homie keep chillin

Kal, 17 Apr 2009I'm not denying that they are selling in great numbers. The... moreDon't get it twisted. The returns you are talking about are not outright returns but are returns to fix the speaker bugs. At least Nokia provides firmware updates to fix issues with their phones. I can't say the same for Samsung, SE and LG who have the habit of leaving owners of buggy phones in the lurch by not providing firmware updates.
In any case all the problems the 5800 has had to date have been largely adressed. I don't know why the fact that the 5800 outsells it's competitors like the Pixons is bugging you?. A person buys a phone that they like, if you don't like the 5800, just don't think the whole world will follow your line of thinking and dislike it as well.... OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why ... moreThen what do you mean by ---"while we are talking about the real world Samsung and LG have thrown their dignity aside and openly copied others, the G810? Dual Slider phones? S60?"----
Yes S60 has great market share and potential. So Samsung opted to make S60 phones. They have given Nokia credit for that. WHATS WRONG IN IT?? Does that mean Samsung copying Nokia with S60?
When every one was making slim phones, Nokia was stuck with those brick size phones. They took 2 sweet years to come in terms and started making slim phones. Will you say Nokia is copying others or following others on that? It's silly.
