Android is the best Mobile OS. That's It. However only High-End Devices from Motorola, Samsung,LG and Other Companies Really Matter. The rest of mid range and low end devices are a joke and an attempt to rip off poor people who desire to buy a smartphone. Google should control these manufacturers because now they are one of the biggest companies.

The only thing what really happen is that many users had repurchased an android device after destroying their previous android phone due to frustration and anger while playing flappy bird. This was the cause of sudden rise of android shipments worldwide.

Privacy's been a myth since the dawn of the 21st century, chill out. Also look under your phone's Privacy and Security Settings, Google most probably has administrative rights (opt-in of course, but most of us do for the anti-theft measure) over your device, not to mention to properly make use of Google Now, you need to give permission to use your Location Data, that includes on devices with no gps (wifi and cell-tower triangulation). And the best part is this is still wayyyyyyyyy less intrusive than iOS or WP.
Funny world we live in.

Google is logging people's activity? How else can it know number of steps take and number of selfies? Those info should be stored on phone and not reported to Google.

Is it me or is everyone generally just really underwhelmed by the entire presentation?
Most exciting news was probably Android One, and even then it should have been a broader program covering ALL handset manufacturers, which would actually go a long way to solving fragmentation.
That, and the glimpse of Moto 360, that was certainly my highlight.

Why google needs to monitor how may selfies taken and how many steps , Does it mean they have access to all our data
Google should stop collecting these data
Horrible , who knows what they are doing with our mails

Greek Analyst, 25 Jun 2014Now that sure is a lot of fragmentation. So has Windows and Linux but these OSes has like Android been built from the ground up, to cater all kinds of devices.
Like Android back in 2010 when SonyEricsson released the 2.6" X10 Mini and the X10 4.0" screens.
Both could run the same apps i fullscreen, regardless of screens with different ratios and size.
Compared to Iphone5 from 2012 with 4" screen, that resulted in black bars (of grief) above and below when running 3,5" Ipone4(S) apps.
