I'm an N9 user and find myself wanting other phones for the availability of other apps.

Just imagine if the Nokia N9 had been a Gingerbread device. It would've been a direct competitor to the S2, Optimus 2x, Atrix etc and Nokia might be in a much different position now. Oh well, the gift of hindsight and all.

After all the Androids and the iphones...My brothers give me a Nokia N9 with a better processor and 2 gb of ram with Meego and N9 is still the most beautifully build hardware with the simplest and more intuitive software that exists... Still my same nmbr 1 and in nmbr 2 phone they still change from time to time...N9 is a beauty. Ask any owner...

I remember those Supernova phones, was exiting when the news first came out but when i got a used 7610SN some time later it was nothing but disappointing.

The N9 i had also, it was refreshing but MeeGo sadly bad and immature compared to Maemo5 plus the N9 had quality issues due to being rushed to the market. All in all todays Counterclockwise was not awakening too happy memories.

in the last two editions of Counterclockwise, we see the name N9 but no discussions about it, not even a word. Was it soo good. The thing was that people still were not liking android. Nokia was a hit because most were having nokia so it was easy to opearate, handle, understand a device. But then came andriods, and it replaced JAVA softwares installed in several mid and cheap range mobiles. Thats when skyfall of Nokia started. Otherwise it was like James Bond of mobile manufacturers, always hero in eyes of everyone. But the real fame of android came with Gingerbread, and then it was on every other device cheap or flagship that was not a nokia having GB2.3 installed(leave berries and apples on trees).

Funny how people keep adding fuel to the old "if Nokia had gone the android way" but ignore the logical reason stated below. Internet is funny sometimes.

If they wanted access tot things like the google play store they would have to use google services for other things too. That meant nokia maps, an important part of their business, would have been sidelined. Microsoft was willing to compromise with them, Google wasn't.

Symbian is mature OS and has lot of features. Its only drawback is aged non-touch UI.

And no, Nokia never used Windows. They use WP (Windows Phone). Nokia expertise is with ARM device. That's why even they owned by Microsoft, they'll only produce WP (or WinRT) device. Nokia will never produce Windows x86 device (like Win8 tablet etc).

Till this day i still dont know why they opted for Windows rather than Android.
                                        Any ideas?
