DanT, 24 Apr 2009Well if Nokia is 5 years behind Apple maybe you would want ... moreIf the almighty brand is so "almighty", why did it take the company...

    - x years to standardize its memory card to micro-SD?

    - 4 years to develop its first 3G touchscreen device

    - x years to support charging by USB (when its 5800 offers a micro-USB "plug" but no charging ability!)

And why did the almighty brand so reluctant to release any touchscreen device until after the release of iphone (3G)? As if the company didn't have the technology for years? Or just being ignorant?

          - Why the almighty brand wants to invest so much on NDC (guess what it stands for!) instead of having good QC, so people don't need to go back to NDC afterwards?

          - Why the almighty brand, which sells at least 4~5 times more phones than Motorola at where I live, only has 3 NDC's while Moto has one? If it really "C" its customers, should it have at least 4~5 NDC's?

The iPhone is a very good product, so it doesn't do a few things my old phone's did.

I hardly ever used those things, I can live with it and so, apparently can a lot of other people.

I'll probably buy another one when I'm finished with this one, I should get a good price for it if I decide to sell it if a new one comes along, more than enough to pay my contract out.

Why do handsets cost a lot more with "Comes with Music", you can't use the music as ringtones, you can't share it with friends over Bluetooth and no-one knows what happens when the one year subscription ends.

Nokia is still selling substantially the same phones they were selling five years ago, nothing really new has been added just a couple of minor interface changes to bring them up to date with what's been around from other manufacturers for the last 2 or 3 years.

People who have never owned an Apple product do not realize the seamlessness and unity among all of their products. They produce products that are meant to work with each other in every way. If you converted all of your day to day products such as PC's and cell phones, routers etc... to Apple products, only then would you realize that everything just works as it should in perfect harmony. I wasn't a full believer until I did this, and now... I would never go back.

                      This explains their financial success.

DanT, 24 Apr 2009Well if Nokia is 5 years behind Apple maybe you would want ... moreBecause you don't understand how Apple and the IPhone works. I'm with you. I think the IPhone is just a gadget. The only strong point being the OS and multi-touch. That's about it. But not every phone user is spec crazy. For every one that looks at MP count, memory, resolution, etc, there are 10 out there that says, just give me a good phone. Not a super phone. That the Iphone does very well. There's this radio commercial in my place by a telco company, which starts with a telco staff selling a phone to the customer. Telling him about how great the specs, exchange server support, push mail, etc. The customer cuts him short by saying "so its just a phone?".

People really need to understand Apple's business model before asking Apple to release a "pro" version. Its not their style. Its not Apple's brand strategy. 2 models of Iphone creates a very strong identity. A third Iphone will most likely replace the 1st gen IPhone not complement it.

Anonymous, 24 Apr 2009At least they're not 5 years behind like Nokia, maybe that ... moreWell if Nokia is 5 years behind Apple maybe you would want to explain why iPhone still does not support about 25% of the features of any ordinary Nokia smartphone (or even ordinary phone). Even my cheap old Nokia 6120 (cheapest smartphone on the market) has at least 10-15 important features that the iPhone does not have yet. iPhone has good looks/design, big screen (but low resolution for the screen size), is fast, responsive touchscreen ... and that is about it. The features are quite poor, comparable with a 2004 Nokia smartphone. But I agree that for most of the users, the features are more than enough.

It says Iphone SALES were up 123% year on year basis. The article didn't mention about IPhone's contribution to Profit nor did it mention the profit margin. So the revenue figures were group wide. Mac sales was down while Ipod was up. The article also mentioned Apple TV and App Store as growth areas.

Apple - instantly, as all iphones have "replacement warranty" where for any technical problem not caused by the customer, Apple would simply "replace" a new iphone for the customer.

Certain almighty brand - line up for at least an hour just to "drop off" the phone and takes at least 24 hours to repair any phone.
