That is one of the most stupidest thing i've ever heard.
Your eyes won't be able to spot the difference, and it will only slow down the phone with more pixels to render.
They already have a screen pixel race running, just like they had pixel race running for camera, and it won't improve anything at all.

Both need contain Snapdragon 805, but Sony Xperia Z3 have to be 2K, while Sony Xperia Z3 Compact need to be FHD and contain this basic new specs:
Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
1.Display.- 4.5 inch FHD - LTPS - Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 3 not Bravia Engine 2 ( 450 PPI density)
2.Memory.- 4 GB RAM
3.Chipset.- Snapdragon 805
4.Battery.- 2700mAh minimal
without these specs will simply be nothing

Hang on what you mean by "when certain Sony handsets look painfully out of date in this regard compared to some of LG's offerings, for example" sony xperia mobiles look more lot better then any of lg phones look like phones from '90 that super fat and just ugly. The sony xperia z2 is slim, made of glass and amazing large screen.

A 4K screen doesn't make sense.. apps that are not optimized for such a screen.. Battery and over heating issues will be there.. Ideally better app performance and more multitasking with a full HD or quad HD screen is enough.. Maybe a better camera or better screen (Colour)calibration..

pretty ugly design for z3...I hope it's not the real deal coming. those speaker holes are just too oldschool, and the large top and bottom bezels are just too huge. Kinda like iphone....ugly.

I'll wait & see, but for god's sake, dont use QHD display! its totally gimmick, what the point to have QHD on a 5" device? even 720p looks very sharp already, 1080p is more than enough, QHD is only for people who like to refer to the tech spec numbering not the actual usage.
I think i'll just stick on my Z1, if there's no big improvement on HW. software goodies can be done by ported, just like all the Z2 goodies already been ported to Z1 now.

Nice one Sony. Finally youve made it the thin bezel. For me it's too early to release this flagship after the Z2 otherwise you have something new features to show up. The specs of this phone no doubt it will be high end, it's good but I really hope many features been added to this upcoming flagship.
