Tentatively called the Lumia 830, the device is said to be the successor to the Lumia 820.

Unless it is released off contract for a very fair amount, MS is going backwards. A $400-500 830 does no one any good. They have to get a 5" 720p device out the door that competes directly with the pricing of the Moto G. Ideally, it would come in under $225 with the slightly larger screen and a couple of upgraded features over the Moto G. If they can make money selling the 635 for $130, then another $100 easily covers the larger screen, a 925 like camera, a flash, and even Qi wireless charging as a differentiator in the mid-range.

notbuying, 03 Jul 2014IF it is mid range device and 830 successor why does it hav... morethe camera is clearly not big. Its just the black layer however as you can see the camera which on the bottom half of the black layer is small. The 1520 has the black only around the camera and the flash is above the black layer not inside it.

Windows phone has grown into a nice little platform. By next year, MS expects to have WP9 and Windows 9 more fully integrated. At that point, what's not to love as an end user?

I just wish they'd stop with the carrier exclusives because that, more than anything, will prevent further growth.

Dan-E, 03 Jul 2014Defunct Lumia 820?!? Dude... I use a 820 everyday and it i... moreI agree the Nokia Lumia is NOT defunct, it just appears to be NOT supported

The Lumia 920 morphed into the much lighter Lumia 925

The Lumia 620 and 720 offered a lower spec than the 820

The Lumia 1520 has been tweaked into the 5" Lumia 920
so except for the 6" display and the Windows 8.1 on the 930 the 930 is the "mini" 1520

The Lumia 635 should have been the Lumia 820 suceesor as display size has increased to 4.5" but main camera 5Mp with no seconadary camera and 218 PPi

Flagship Lumias do not have BOTH EXPANSION and REMOVABLE BATTERIES, and less the Retina display (326) PPI

Mid and low range Lumia have BOTH EXPANSION and REMOVABLE BATTERIES.

Imo this proves it now a mid range 820
the 930 could have and should have had expansion and removable battery, one hane gives http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6227&idPhone2=5760

The camera on the back of the phone are kinda big( like the one on Lumia 1520, or look even bigger) so you telling me this "suggesting no PureView wizardry is involved here."?

Nokia 730 must have 4.5 IPS LCD screen,540 x 960 resolution screen, 1GB Ram, dual sim, 8 Mega pixel carl zeiss optics and 2200mah battery....only then it'll be a true successor...

J2ME user, 03 Jul 2014But there are just a vanishing minority, thinking like you.... moreNokia dont make low quality smartphones. Samsung on the other hand can since they manufacture their own screens and other semiconductor electronics. Nokia couldnt compete with samsung if they used the android os. another reason why they didnt chose lagdroid because it is insecure when it comes to protecting their IP (read Nokia camera, pureview algorithms etc). probably the reason why the nokia x series don't come with pureview tech

Which is the reason why Winphone sells so bad, and Nokia had to stop making them or go bankruptcy.
