S3 .. they got scared.. and change alot to avoid the lawsuit.
S4 / S5 .. they obtain the "ugly looking phone" title.
They cannot survive without copying from the best. Nor can they survive vs dirt cheap phones.

However I still like them, I mean they do make brilliant AMOLED display panels, and provide very good hardware, but I believe the main reason of this poor results are the pricing of the products.
S5 launched at 51000 INR, just three and a half month passed, and now it's selling at below 35000 INR.
Especially when devices like Xiaomi MI3, Moto X are around, these prices are ridiculous.
Samsung is still my favourite though, and I will probably end up getting the S5 GPE when it releases, still. Needless to say for me the biggest drawback of a Samsung flagship is TouchWiz.

I used to like Samsung when they released the Galaxy S and S2. But since the S3, I've lost interest and their BS... Nexus Devices only for me since then.

i think people had realized that their products are of poor quality. my s3 got software issue and searched on the net many were experiencing that issue too but samsung has no fix at all! so when i sent it to the service they just replace me with new unit. wow! so the fix is replacement of new unit! bye samsung!

And a lot of upgrades on recent models (like the new Ace, and Young) have got the same or worse specifications than their predecessor.
Samsung treats it's customers like idiots.

Here come the haters saying "Samsung is dead." They will never die.... As long as there are better companies to copy..... and Korean officials in their back pocket..... and regulators don't catch them price fixing..... and SEPs to be used as weapons.... And they don't have to pay damages to cancer victims..... and people who don't care about the company's past and it's connection to military dictatorships.... and can use court secrets to extort other companies..... or can pay off commenters and bloggers for positive press....

A 25 per cent collapse in profits is abysmal, even for a large company like Samsung. It goes to show that market share isn't everything.
It's even hard to feel sorry for them the way I did for Nokia and HTC, because of their dirty tactics over the years (benchmark cheating, breaking confidentiality agreements to squeeze a better licensing deal from Nokia, hiring trolls to bad-mouth HTC, misleading investors about Galaxy Tab sales figures, etc...)
