12 July, 2014
The first batch of Nokia Lumia 930 seems to have a purple tint on the screen, it is easily fixable though.

And another update, just compared the two phones. You have to increase the warmth to about 80% and vivid to around 70% + the green up to 90% to get the neutral lumia 1020 color profile.

I bought myself a 930 yesterday and the colors are just different, doesnt matter if I change the settings. I had a 1020 for a while and the difference in colours is noticable.

Wisconsin , 13 Jul 2014I don't know and can't understand what caused Nokia to sold... moreThey weren't making any money from phones any more. Especially the smartphone business was making heavy losses. Nokia didn't have too much money in the bank to support a loss making business, so they sold it to Microsoft, which has deep enough pockets to keep making phones at a loss for a long time, if they think that's what it takes to help their "ecosystem". It's as simple as that.

There's no Nokia making phones, they already sold it to MS and its MS who has licensed the nokia name on their phones. So basically Nokia now a software company is unaffected by this.

I would think that simply changing the overall tint would bias all of the other color values as well. Not any sort of fix, as far I understand it!

LG, Sharp, and other manufacturers also make screens, and OLED screens. But I also wonder which company is producing Nokia's displays.

Looks like Samsung has sold Nokia/Microsoft a poorly calibrated batch of AMOLED displays, again. As somebody already pointed out, the same thing happened with early N8's as well. It will probably be fixed by a software update, though.

On my N8 black is same not black really.
But I think someone at NokiaSoft has color recognition problems... Look at oversaturated colours pictures taken with 1020... or white colours balance on icon pictures... terrible.

lumia 930 (OLed) vs lumia 1520 (IPS LCD)

Or lumia 930 screen is just that? (purple)

And it's Windows phone. Still lagging behind. If it's cheaper, more people would be interested. And Nokia isn't the best quality. I've tried some. Unlike fan boys, I say my opinion honestly.

How come changing the value from neutral to green can be considered a software fix? the screen should be fine with neutral itself right? it denotes something wrong in the hardware
