TheNeighbor, 13 Jul 2014To you and a majority of the people, the S Pen seems useles... moreSorry your work is not very professional, the lowest inexperienced deviantart contributors do better. If that's the best you can do it proves my point. Real people who do real work do it on proper boards not on puny screens of a phone. A gimmick it is and a gimmick it remains. From the vast majority of people who use the note 2, not even the 35% you claim is close to reality. The polls you talk about are based on a small sample size. There is this question of how many of them are simply embellishing their usage claims. You just need to look at people who use note 2 and what they do with the S-Pen. Nothing. It's a gimmick. The novelty wears off after the first few days of the purchase if someone is new to the note series. And that's all observed reality unlike the Samsung marketing slides you seem intent on assuming as fact.

AnonD-259899, 13 Jul 2014Two family members of mine chose the Note 2 and I recommend... moreTo you and a majority of the people, the S Pen seems useless. There are roughly 35% or so that use the S Pen in a survey PA. That's small. I know so.
I know what a Wacom digitizer board is, and I know what the graphics and visual production use. They are expensive. I'm an architect, and an on-location sketcher, and a small A6-sized device with an active digitizer is just perfect for my documentations of project sites, meeting, design ideas, detail drawings, illustrations for power points, and drawing what I observe on things, places, people. The Note 3's 5.7" screen "offers good large screen". Unlike your girlfriend, I can handle sketches and take notes with it, thank you very much. I do have a digitizer board too, but I can't set up my to work while walking and standing around to take notes and sketches with a laptop or even a heavier iPad or tablets. And during ocassions when I do more finer work, I still can do it with a Galaxy Note:

Or even some lose sketches and caricatures of people I know:

Since 2011, I can't be bothered buying anything without a digitizer. I even won a digital competition last year, using just my Note II. Check Sammobile.com.
So, your argument of the S Pen being a "gimmick", is pretty much the very gimmick I really want in a device. I like it as it helps me tremendously, and you can't dictate and have this sweeping statement that it is a useless feature.

Anonymous, 13 Jul 2014Useless info! Not gonna buy a cell just for a pen. You make little sense. You read my post and the you say you won't buy a phone for S-pen. That's exactly what I said about the S-Pen. It's a gimmick. You don't buy phones for the gimmicks they market.

TheNeighbor, 13 Jul 2014If you're implying that even the Wacom digitizer of the Not... moreTwo family members of mine chose the Note 2 and I recommended they get it too for several reasons. The S-pen and integrated wacom board was not one of them.
It's a novelty that wears out in a few days time after that they never touched it again.
My gf who is deviantart regular contributor also has the Note 2 but she laughs at the thought of trying to create stuff on a puny 5.5" screen. They have proper large sized wacom boards for doing real work. Real wacom boards have myriad of needed abilities that no note will ever match. Samsung marketing has stated Note series let's your creative juices flow, that's just marketing nonsense nothing more. It sure can do some creative work if you try hard enough on a small screen but really experts are not that blinkered to do work on a phone. If that were the case sketch/concept artists in the gaming industry should dump their pro boards and start work on the note 2, save a ton of money. Of course you knew that already.
In short that's also a gimmick.
Note series is popular not for the the S-pen but because it offers good large screen, battery life and other usable practical features that don't fall under the S-something meaningless gimmicks. A small population of note owners might even occasionally sign a document on their phone and that's about it. People don't have time to look foolish drawing or taking hand written notes on a smartphone or waving their hands over the screen to do something that can be done more efficiently and quickly by the swipe or touch of your fingers.
It's tough to defend gimmicks, it's pretty easy to lambaste them especially these types.

Contract , 13 Jul 2014Flop or not it's déjà vu again again
Sony ... moreDon't worry, we're getting pretty tired of it too. Especially if this purported Z3 really takes out the stereo speakers. Mind you I'm fine with an FHD phone with an s801 ticking inside with at least 3gigs of RAM. And I personally love the Omnibalance design - the peak of which is still the Z2.
BUT what all of us want to see is for Sony to improve on its Custom 20.7 MP sensor; give it OIS, make the autofocus even quicker, refine the optics further, and for the love of God give it a better flash and if Sony really wants to make ME happy then make it a super bright RGB ring flash, and a better built-in amp (not DAC mind you, since it's only loudness that is lacking).
Honestly those are the sort of upgrades that we expected of the next Xperia. I really do hope that this is just a Z2 variant, or that Sony skips the Z3 entirely if the upgrades are going to be this minor.

Sony should maintain the outline dimension for Z3 similar to Z2 but increase the display size to 5.5"
Move the home & return button out of display so that the display is fully utilized.
