22 May, 2009
It's hardly going to surprise too many people but when Sony Ericsson officially confirm that their handsets, running on the v2.0 of the Android OS are in the works it is enough to make it in the news...

stab116, 23 May 2009SE has big plans. First it was Idou, and now Android... No... moreWhen you say SE is the 2nd largest phone manufacturer I am not sure what you really mean. That is not the case in their market share, or profits.

Also SE had no choice but to join Android after it opted out of being one of the founding members. After selling off what share they had left in Symbian to Nokia it left them with few options.

And Nokia will not have an Android phone (anytime soon) not because they are too conservative, but because they own their own mobile phone OS (Symbian).

Maybe I am wrong but Symbian stands to be on the short end of the OS war with Apple being the frontrunner, then maybe Android or the new WinMo 6.5 or 7 (I did not like 6.1) and Symbian at the back of the pack.

It'll be a nice launch for SE if they released their first android unit with the Idou.
Definitely top of my Christmas list.

Notice that SE wasn't among the companies that made a partnership with google when they first announced Android. Back then, SE was the second largest phone manufacturer (maybe it still is now, but I'm not sure) and not having it make Android phones was pretty bad for google. It seems the tides turn, which means that Apple and WinMo will have more competition. The chances of Nokia joining are pretty low since they're simply too conservative.

Idou is best touchscreen yet, and you can't go wrong with the specs either. Another phone that i was extremely impressed by was the Toshiba TG01, great touchscreen respons, monster UI and if u can say that phone looks hot, then the Toshiba TG01 is super sexy, much better looking in real life then on photos and videos.

I have saved up money all year, so for me it's the Idou or Toshiba TG01.

Last quarter of the year?! hahaha, U kiddin me, more like 3rd quarter of next year. It hasn't even been showcased yet, and they are still working on it.

I did have a go at a Idou commercial unit at a convention here in Sweden like 3 weeks ago, and it was sweet! The touchscreen is super responsive, imho better then the iPhones, and the UI has beautiful fluid transistions between menus

I don't know which company faster loose market share (and will go out of business by end of year): Motorola, Inc. or Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB?

This news just show how SE is lost in space.

5800 is like 3 yrs old N95 with touch which doesn't even respond until u hit it with hammer!

Announcements and big talks!!! It is not coming before 2010. Their president said that himself. It just shows how desperate they are to be in the news and create an illusion.
