SK89, 05 Aug 2014550 euro for a phone with an hd screen? what year is this?!Zero, the year is 2014

First, this is a Pre Order price for those people who must absolutely have the phone before anyone else

Second, It is NOT apparent whether this is an exclusive price and MobileFun will be the only supplier during this period

Third, If NOT just a MobileFun pre-offer this is the "over"price that just ONE supplier is asking.

Fourth, the article states before Samsung, so atm NO official RRP or specs

Finally, prices over a time do go down over time, and this is so far the unsubsidised price as not a network phone

This phone is a variant of a flagship phone, so a niche item for those who care what is on the outside also.
Eg say this phone matches the price of the S5 si buy S5 better camera, or Alpha but metallic body

The specs aren't crap, specially the chipset, an 64 bit one. 4 cores Arm Cortex A57 and 4 cores Arm cortex A53 of unknown frequency, more the Mali T760 gpu. It is an Exynos 5 chipset but it is the Exynos 5433.

                      1. Samsung don't update their capable midrange/low end phones. They forget that those are the phones that gave them the high market share they have. This whole new phone for new OS is rubbish and it throws a lot of people off.

                      2. Samsung makes TONS of similar clone phones with similar plastic design, give them a new name, increase their prices and market it as a new product. For example Galaxy Ace 3 (2013) is basically Galaxy S3 mini (2012). Other times the successor to previous phone models are usually different with minor changes or sometimes even inferior to their predecessors. For example the Galaxy Ace 4 (2014) has 512MB RAM while the Galaxy Ace 3 (2013) has 1GB RAM.

                      3. Thirdly, there is the issue with Samsung's hardware. Their phones are considerably weak (ever since 2012 there are no mid to low end Samsung phones with Gorilla glass). Their phones are not eye-catching and have very basic and ugly designs. We have people complaining that their phones heat up and even explode! I can't even tell you just how many stories like that that I've heard. Their phones whether high, mid or low end ALL LOOK THE SAME. For example, there is no level distinction between the Galaxy S5 (High), Galaxy Core (Mid) and Galaxy Grand (Low-mid) at all. To prove my point: If you have those phones switch all of them off and show them to a regular person to sort them out in order of ascending prices. I bet you the person will say that the Galaxy Grand is the high end.

                      4. I don't even have to talk about the cost of those their numerous clone phones.

In the past Samsung got away with these things and people used to fall for their marketing fraud and gimmicks but times are changing. There are lots of cost-effective alternatives out there. People are now wiser with how they spend their money.

It's as if they're totally unaware of the other Android competitors and are only focusing on competing with Apple. At least with Apple's iPhones there is a CLEAR and BIG distinction between their phones both internally and externally. Also iPhones are mostly niche and thrive more in developed countries as opposed to Samsung which is successful worldwide. Obviously that success is fading fast. We have fantastic phones like the Moto G and Xiaomi M3 dominating the Mid-low range market... and this is the market that usually drives sales up. Samsung currently has nothing to compete with these phones cost-wise and this is one of the MANY reasons they're fading fast. What did Samsung do to avert this situation? Slap on a metal case, increase screen size and increase cores... and price. They're totally clueless. It easy to get to the top but it's harder to stay at the top.

I'm done talking. I'll just let my pockets do all the talking from now on.

                      Good day.

Besides even if they don't continue with the mobile phones segment then their Televisions will be there, and they are the best chip manufacturer too, I mean SSD and all.

I'm not a fan of their phones either, but I'm quite sure they can make brilliant phones, if they want.

Also Micromax story is absolutely rubbish! I for one will never buy one, yes, I'm an Indian and I would just love to buy an Indian brand, but they are nowhere near of Samsung's Quality Control. I use a Moto X now, my last five phones were Samsung, and now when I'll update I'll look for the Galaxy S5.

Galaxy series, and especially Note series, they are fantastic! Yes, the culprit is TouchWiz, but still. Can't imagine how much I would have praised Samsung if Sense were of Samsung's instead of hTC's.

Sammy are going down... I guess Samsung thinks that his brand (Galaxy) is worht something, but majority of Galaxy users will buy Miromax, or Huawei, or whatever that is with better specs/price ratio at that time. Android users are noot iPhone type of followrs - that will buy anything with newest apple or "iPhone" name on it for any price...
