Oh really.... ahahaha.... since Samsung has been working on Flat look UX for their own Operating Systems since they began developing Samsung Linux Project or SLP. Which is the basis of Tizen. Tizen roots back to the Samsung Linux Platform (SLP) and the LiMo Project. Then in 2013 Samsung merged its homegrown Bada project into Tizen with it's flat look UX design and Open Standards Application based on W3C HTML5 Standards.
SLP was largely a project based on one particular UX they'd also made part of Touchwiz. Which actually began back in 2005 as a UX overlay for WinMo and Nokia Symbian. I could easily show you examples of Samsung's original flat look UK, because I was involved in the original Open Source Community of Developers. That UX I'm speaking of is the basis today of Samsung's Touchwiz UX. Which isn't Android at all and uses the UX (like Gnome and KDE) design and SDK's from the late 90's Enlightenment SDK as it's Desktop Environment. It's why Touchwiz is actually ligthyears beyond either Android or iOS.
Since they were both based on stripped down UX's for Mobiles. Samsung went instead for a full Desktop UX to give greater productivity features. But.... since Apple couldn't do productivity (let alone proper Pervasive Multi Tasking IBM style) and Google was working on a mobile UX version of Linux! ....neither are nearly as good, fast and powerful as Tizen at running HTML5 Content natively. Whereas both Apple and Google depend on Virtualization within their browsers to produce show Standards Based HTML5 content!!!
TRUTH is TIZEN will be around long after the other two are long gone. Because..... they were originally built around a closed Proprietary App Model in the first place!
Sadly too many fools have been conned into believing Doing only one thing FAST at a time, appears to be losing out to Samsung's features and abilities to do MANY THINGS AT ONCE!!! ........that's why and how Samsung can give their devices so many more DESKTOP Computing Features. Unlike especially iOS.... which actually a very crippled closed box OS for their closed box business model. We have proof of that with Apple (like Sony the other Queen of Closed Proprietary Standards Inventing) now making their own Wireless Standard that continues to lock consumers into their ecosystem! .....it's going to FAILED just like Sony. Who is no longer #1 Electronics Firm.... nor #2 or #3 or even #7 or #8! .....and Apple has never been #1 in Electronics..... let alone #1 Smartphone Seller! SAMSUNG.... has the last 5yrs in a row!!! :D

I never care who is the copier and who is the cat. Just be a wise consumer that's all. I own an iphone 5s & Mi3. Both in different daily usage.

I had a Mi2, now I have a Mi3 and soon, I'll get a Mi4. I have also experienced their budget line - RedMi - they are also premium built.

C'mon, guys... take a break... I don't think anyone of you owns Apple/Samsung/Xiaomi... so why the needless argument... the emergence of these companies only goes on to prove that Apple and Samsung and their likes are ripping off customers. So if these new companies can give me something for less than half of what apple or xyz is giving then I should be happy.

Even if this os looks good, I can't assess yet if their phones are really made of good quality build. If it can outlast a year or so,then I will buy one of their phones.

That being the case, this is clearly a case of blatant copying, refer to the article in Gizmodo which has screenshots. I really doubt there is no other compass design Xiaomi could use, which leads one to reasonably conclude that wholesale plagiarism is being practised here.
That being said, it is hardly surprising from a relatively uninspiring company like Xiaomi. of course, their sales will be big, as their phones are more affordable.

The UI looks sleek. But I hope MIUIv6 will be efficient. As mi3 only shows 700-800mb of RAM out of 1.8gb, though no lag or any app crash.
But what I want MIUIv6 to have is conserve battery mode as they removed it from MIUIv5 with their last update.
