HTC to allegedly announce a MediaTek octa-core phablet

08 September, 2014
Based on the Desire 816, the new device will be similar except for the processor and RAM.

if only HTC will made a phone with the top specs like any other brand, I´ll buy again, but all HTC always has good thigs and bad specs, if the phone has good screen has bad battery, if the battery is good the cam sucks, if the cam is good the prossesor has low RAM... terrible (n) someday.. someday do all good and yes.. the phone will be expensive, but I prefer pay a expensive perfecto phone in HTC and dont pay a samsung or nokia or iphone or any other... meanwhile, I wait with a note 3

All i can say the best thing about mediatek is usage of Powervr series of gpu in many of their chipset like mtk6589 etc. But the only turnoff us the fact that they have to be paid by the oem for every update which they provide to their customers. Now companies wont compromise on their profits for the sake of updates that's why they are not frequent with updates, source code is also a major issue. Rest is alright about mtk

Android Man, 08 Sep 2014only Mediatek actually make a true Octocore CPU. that's why. You're wrong !!
The latest Samsung Exynos is a true octacore and destroys any existing soc including the SD 805.

Mediatek chips are generally used by small manufacturers because they're cheap compared to others, that's the whole story.

i don't care whether it's Qualcomm, Mediatek, Intel, Broadcom, etc.
as long as it has non-removable battery just like Desire 816, i won't buy it.

jane, 08 Sep 2014Mediatek chipsets are the future! Why spend extra on a bran... morebecause other chips actualy can do what they promise to do,where as mediatek promise lots and never deliver, same as nvidia and their awful tegra series, lots of hype, very little horse power.
i will continue bying snapdragon powered devices because they work properly, have had to use lots of mid range mediatek powered devices and the one thing they all had in common was lack lustre performance for price and target markets, have you ever tried working big video files with a mediatek based device ? dont, its a total waste of time.
i may swap allegiance from snapdragon if intel ever get their act together properly and they can convince makers to use in top end devices,a market totaly dominated by snapdragons.exynos from sammy are bad enough, mediatek are even worse.
thats why nearly every popular device uses snapdragons, its simple, they work as advertised, and i have been usingthem since they broke the 1ghz barrier with that usless piece of crud that toshiba rushed out and fouled up,the tg01,thankfuly,htc showed them how to build a "real"proper phone with the legendary and much loved HD2,which many folk would love to see upgraded with a brand new version...

Mediatek chipsets are the future! Why spend extra on a brand name when you can have a big phone with mediatek on boards for cheaper and much more powerful then Qualcomm too. Octacore is best and everyone knows more cores is better. Mediatek the best!

Shame on people, who r saying Mediatek r beeter than Qualcomm...I think they have no idea!!!!! And didnt use any snapdragon phone...My request to them is first use and then say..
Guys,,the World and each and every mobile company and retail sellers,,even so many people knows what is the power of Qualcomm!!!!!! The difference btwn them is PRICE...Mediatek is more cheaper than Qualcom,,,,other than Regarding speed,,gaming,,video graphics, battery life,,camera,sound..everything suits and run very smooth and fast in qualcom very much better than mediatek......mediatel is used by the so called chief manufacturer,,,MICROMAX....where as snapdragon is used by all branded company like SONY,,Nokia,,samsung,,LG,,Even MOTO G and XIOMI!!!!!
So I think after hearing that people doesnt have any confusion.....that says HTC are going to make a cheaper phone than its previous 816 to make huge profit in the name of the most excellent phone desire 816......

Hope it doesn't come with onscreen buttons and that UltraPixel camera technology, because that is what put me off from buying the desire 816, the onscreen buttons.

Mediatek chipsets have extreme power and better then Qualcomm now. Sleek speed and ultimate speed and performance of the octocore chipset.

I tired of Phablets too. I'm guessing that HTC will come out with a Desire 720 that will be 4.7-5.0". Same internals.

                                    AnonD-176824, 08 Sep 2014Haven't they already announced at IFA... the Desire 820! An... moreNo, 820 has quad-core ARMv8 Cortex A53 Snapdragon 615. It's mid-range.

MT6595 is more powerful, yet ARMv7. Opponent to Snapdragon 801, yet much cheaper. It's mid-to-high range, considering new Cortex A57 CPUs.

It also has much more powerful GPU than Snapdragon 615.
