I don't think the issue is ram. Kitkat was made to be working better with devices of 512mb ram. S3 has double it. So if there is an issue, it is called touch wiz. Even devices like Xperia e1 and acer liquid z200 run kitkat very smoothly with 512mb of ram. With 1gb of ram moto g is almost as smooth as nexus 5. Why? It has no touch wiz.

Romin, 23 Sep 2014Galaxy s3 is really too old and still it is getting latest ... moreThey are under fire from everywhere. Updates could be a Samsung saving grace now since most manufacturers ignore older devices.

Samsung were never good with updating their devices (till now)

Htc doesnt have a phone with 2 gb of ram, which doesnt have kitkat!

if you refer to HTC one X - Htc already told that the blame is for Nvidia (Tegra 3) for not sending required info for updating the device

i think HTC should learn something from Samsung. I dislike Sammy phones, but atleat they have gone ahead and listened to customers.
